Easy No Sugar Carob Banana Pudding
Christian Food for Thought:
God is the creator of the many wonderful medicinal plants and foods that prevent, treat, and cure so many ailments. To reject God's solutions is to reject
spiritual, physical, and
mental health.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in HEALTH even as thy
soul prospereth" (KJV Christian Bible, 3 John 2).
No sugar added carob banana pudding will greatly satisfy the tastes of some and will not appeal at all to others. If you've never tried carob and would like to, this is a very easy and inexpensive recipe to follow.
Much information, some of it conflicting, is freely available on the health benefits and advantages to consuming carob in place of chocolate or cocoa. This article focuses purely on enjoying carob in recipes, not as a chocolate substitute or health food, but for its own unique flavor. Although I like carob very much, I agree with the people who don't view it as a chocolate substitute. Sometimes the comparison is made in order to entice others, especially chocolate lovers, to replace cocoa with carob for better health. But, causing disappointment in the experience of trying this food hinders the widespread acceptance of it. I hated carob the first time I tried it, mainly because I found it to be a poor substitute for chocolate.
So, how is carob banana pudding made? Start with only enough ingredients to prepare a small batch until you see if you like it. Approximately four medium to large bananas will suffice. They are peeled and cut up into a deep bowel, large pieces are okay. Two heaping tablespoons of roasted carob powder are sprinkled onto the bananas. You may use more or less depending on how strong or rich you want the flavor and color to be.
You'll need to blend the carob powder and bananas together, forming a creamy "chocolate" pudding that's sweet from the natural sugar in the bananas and carob. A hand blender works best for this, but if you don't have one, puree the mixture in a food processor until it's smooth and free of lumps. It will then be ready to eat as is, or can be "dressed" further according to personal taste.
You can swirl natural, no sugar added peanut butter through it, creamy works better than chuncky. You can add chocolate or carob chips and/or nuts. I really like whipped cream on top. I'm referring to real cream that you have to whip into cream using a mixer. It's far superior to the light and airy canned product.
Toasted carob powder is sold in most health foods stores or in the health foods section of many major grocery stores. It should not be very expensive, around $4.00 for a small bag or can, and it tends to last a long time.
A good number of people who say that
bananas don't agree with them tend to eat ones that aren't truly ripe. This is a fruit that should be very ripe before eaten. Preferably, no part of it should be green and it should be covered with brown spots. This is the sign of being fully ripe.
No sugar carob banana pudding is a recipe easy enough for children to make. It's economical and rich in potassium and may actually serve some who must give up or cut down on
chocolate, as a "chocolate" substitute to be enjoyed for its own unique flavor.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
