Endangered Species Chocolates: Help To Protect Animals

Lately, information on the potential health risks associated with consuming large amounts of chocolate have surfaced. Much of the information presents strong evidence in favor of the health benefits gained by greatly reducing one's intake of chocolate. Nevertheless, millions of Americans continue to satisfy their craving for chocolate regardless of any warnings they've heard.

The good news is that chocolate lovers can make a very positive difference in the world by selectively choosing the cocoa products they buy. One such product is a gourmet chocolate bar known as "Endangered Species chocolate". There's much good that can be accomplished simply by choosing to buy these special chocolate bars instead of traditional ones. The company buys cacao that's cultivated in the forested areas of the world which have not been cleared to grow cacao. Clearing the forests of Earth is destruction of the planet which affects all forms of life. The roots of trees grip the soil to prevent it from washing away. The foliage of trees tames the wind and is sometimes used as herbal medicines. Trees provide housing for a number of animals and release valuable oxygen into the air. Destruction of Earth is one of the primary causes for the endangerment of wildlife. When forested areas are cleared for the commercial production of cacao from which chocolate is made, environmental harm is caused.

According to the article, "Globalization and Child Labor", workers on commercial cacao plantations are often subjected to atrocious and miserable working conditions and are paid extremely low wages. Endangered Species chocolate bars are made from cacao purchased from farmers who respect God's world by growing their crops under the canopy of the forest. The farmers are paid a fair price for their crop and enjoy good working conditions.

Purchasing these special chocolate bars is one way of giving monetary support to programs and organizations that fight against the evil of deforestation. Ten percent of the company's net profits are dedicated to the support of endangered species, their habitat, and the preservation of man who depends on the resources of the planet. Much good could be done for the animals, the earth, and man if chocolate lovers purchased these gourmet bars instead of those made by companies that disregard the very delicate balance of life on Earth. Consumers have the power to effect positive change in the world, transforming it into a better place for themselves and their children. Making special requests to store managers to carry these bars is another step that can easily be taken to encourage the sale of Endangered Species chocolate bars. Filling out customer service comment cards is another method of making one's requests and opinions known to management.

The eating of chocolate doesn't have to support companies that place profits above the preservation of the planet. The choosing of Endangered Species chocolate bars can actually help to fight against such un-ethical practices while delivering satisfaction to chocolate lovers many of whom are also animal lovers.
