Natural Remedies for an Abscessed Tooth
An untreated or improperly treated abscessed tooth can literally poison your entire system, which means that it can be fatal. Make an appointment with a dentist. If the nerve is exposed and/or the infection has progressed to the point of not only causing severe pain, but also swelling or disfigurement of the face, you might have to go to the emergency room. While waiting to go to your dental appointment, it is highly advisable to do two things: 1. learn how you might be able to help yourself 2. educate yourself about the treatments that are almost always advised by dentists when dealing with an abscessed tooth so you can make informed decisions. Those treatments are root canal and/or extraction. Root canal treatment has justifiably received some very negative publicity and, fortunately, people are learning that, in some cases, an abscessed tooth can heal, allowing you to avoid root canal treatment and extraction. When tooth infection kills the nerve, however, it is probably best to have it extracted instead of submitting to root canal treatment. It is also advisable to educate yourself about the true signs and symptoms of nerve death and the times when it is strongly recommended to have an extraction done by an oral surgeon instead of a general dentist. Long roots is one reason to trust extraction only to an oral surgeon The following information offers you some guidance in the use of natural treatments for an infected tooth.
Colloidal Silver: An External Natural Antibiotic
Most all of the negative publicity that colloidal silver has received arose from people using a home-made variety, using too little of the product, using it in excess, or a combination of these reasons. Few people know how to safely produce colloidal silver at home, so it's best to simply buy it. Again, it's always advisable to do your homework first; not all brands of colloidal silver are the same. How can this natural antibiotic be effectively used to temporarily treat an abscessed tooth? The mouth should be thoroughly cleansed first. All natural baking soda is, and has always been one of the best products for dental care. Dissolve about 1/2 teaspoon in approximately 1/4 cup of warm water and use the solution to very gently brush the teeth and as a mouthwash. It's extremely important to also thoroughly brush the tongue, inside of the cheeks, and the roof of the mouth. Be very gentle, however, when brushing the roof of the mouth to avoid injury. You might also want to dip the tooth brush directly into a little baking soda in the palm of your washed hand for brushing the tongue as this will be more abrasive than baking soda water. When brushing the teeth, use only the solution so you don't risk brushing away your natural, protective enamel. Baking soda kills many germs in the mouth and has a drawing effect in cases of tooth infection. Many people with an infected tooth have produced a gum boil after a few brushings with baking soda; that is the infection "bundled" into the boil to help keep it out of the system. After a cleansing with the baking soda, do a final rinse with plain, warm water.
You're now ready to use the all natural antibiotic, colloidal silver. Simply sip a tiny amount of warm water to which to add four or five drops of the colloidal silver. Hold for ten minutes over the infected tooth and then swish for about fifteen seconds before spitting out. If you're dealing with an upper abscessed tooth, you might have to tilt your head to make sure the silver penetrates the gum area and that upper tooth. Be extremely careful to guard against swallowing and choking. This use of the colloidal silver should be done three to four times per day for at least three weeks, after which you can reduce to once per day.
Drawing Infection Out of an Abscessed Tooth
Baking soda and salt are two of the most effective all natural substances used to draw infection out of an abscessed tooth. When you clean your mouth with baking soda solution, you can simply hold the solution for about five minutes before doing the final warm water rinse in preparation for use of the colloidal silver. Salt water is also extremely effective for drawing infection out of an infected tooth. Simply dissolve a little salt into some room temperature or warm water and hold in the mouth for as long as you can. Don't rinse after spitting this out. Also, it's highly advisable to use an all natural salt such as sea salt or rock salt. Try to avoid unnatural table salt, but if that is all that you have, you can use it.
Colloidal Silver and Garlic as an Antibiotic
Some people have excellent results using colloidal silver as an antibiotic for any type of infection. Others have success with it for treating only some types of infections, while still others do not find it effective at all. Garlic as an antibiotic, however, is almost always effective for infections, including an abscessed tooth. However, it's very important to know how to properly use garlic as an antibiotic. When battling an abscessed tooth, it's necessary to fight it internally as well as externally.
