Garlic as an Antibiotic: Common Mistakes to Avoid
There are basically seven common mistakes made by people who are not knowledgeable or skilled in the used of natural medicine when they attempt to use garlic as an antibiotic. The mistakes are:
1. Using cooked garlic
2. Using garlic in pill form
3. Using garlic that isn't fresh
4. Not taking garlic on an empty stomach
5. Not taking enough garlic
6. Not replacing friendly flora during use of garlic as an antibiotic
7. Refusal to adopt a healthy diet
Don't Cook Garlic to Be Used as an Antibiotic
When your purpose for using garlic is to season food, cooking this amazing herb works fine. However, when you're trying to get over an infection, opt for raw garlic. It's believed that a substance known as allicin is responsible for the natural infection fighting properties of garlic. You don't want to destroy any of the beneficial substances of the herb by cooking it.
Garlic in Pill Form: You Can't Take the Easy Way Out
Man preserves, packages, cans, bottles, and alters almost every wholesome food God has provided for the nourishment and healing of man, including garlic. The end result of his tampering with foods is a much less effective substance or one that is not effective at all. It's so much easier to pop a garlic pill rather than suffer through chewing two or three fresh cloves of garlic. Nevertheless, whether speaking of garlic as an antibiotic or of anything else, the easy way is hardly ever the best way. No form of garlic even comes close to chewing the raw cloves when it come to fighting infection. Chewing raw cloves has proven as effective as taking penicillin in some cases.
It Should be Fresh
It's very important to chew fresh garlic cloves when employing it as an infection fighter. This herb and food is very fresh when it has a green strip that runs the middle of the cloves. If you plan to seriously use garlic as an antibiotic throughout your life, you might want to consider growing your own. And remember, organic is always much healthier.
Chew It on an Empty Stomach
Many experienced users of garlic as an antibiotic always chew it first thing in the morning before breakfast or even before drinking water. You might, however, want to have a glass of water close by to help alleviate the burn as you chew at least two cloves. Expect your body to react in a variety of ways depending on what's wrong. You might perspire, cough up phlegm, and become nauseated among other reactions. If you have no reaction at all, there's probably something very wrong. Chewing raw garlic after a meal hardly ever produces the beneficial effects that consuming it on an empty stomach does.
Too Little Won't Do
Many people, once they realize that chewing raw garlic is the only really effective way of using the food to fight infection, attempt to get results by using very little. Depending on the infection you're fighting and how far it has advanced, consuming one small clove a day won't produce the effect needed to get over infection. Two or three cloves of average size typically is the amount of garlic needed once per day to recover. Some users of garlic as an antibiotic state that they've succeeded in getting over serious infections by chewing two or three cloves twice per day.
Replace Friendly Flora
Some sources of information on using garlic as an antibiotic say natural antibiotics don't deplete friendly flora. This is not completely true. For example, some high potency garlic pills can, and often do negatively affect friendly flora levels. It's almost always a good idea to consume fresh yogurt or miso soup to help your body maintain healthy levels of friendly flora.
Help Garlic to Help You
Far too few people realize the emphasis that should be placed on diet when seeking good health or needing to recover from illness and disease. Garlic is not a miracle food that will clear up any infection. Also, natural antibiotics, like harmful prescription strength ones, are hindered in their fight against infection if we stubbornly persists in eating a diet poor in wholesome, all natural foods.
