¿Qué tiene que ver conmigo? por Teófila Gottfried

The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life: A Waste of Time?
The phrase, "Beam me up, Scotty," was very popular in the United States during the glory days of the original Star Trek with William Shattner as Capitan Kirk, and Leonard Nimoy as Spock. Trekkies (fans of Star Trek) would often say the phrase as part of an expression of disgust when someone behaved in a way that they viewed as silly. The mission of the Star Trek star ship, Enterprise, was to seek out new life forms alien to Earth. Although there is no star ship capable of interstellar travel, many astronomers continue the search for extraterrestrial intelligent life from a base here on Earth.
They state that to make contact with alien life would help "Earthlings" to be unified as one race, and perhaps to gain knowledge that might improve and/or lengthen life in our world. Many laypeople who join in the search for extraterrestrials do so from a spiritual point of view. A good number of such people believe that man descended from aliens and could reap wonderful benefits from making contact with them. Among such benefits is secret wisdom on a higher plane of existence, including the secret to eternal life.
What Is the "Intelligence" of Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life?
Most astronomers firmly believe that alien life is probably much more advanced than any civilization here on Earth. Therefore, extraterrestrial intelligent life, in their minds, certainly would tap into radio signals available in space. This is why many of them conclude that since interstellar travel is, at present, an impossibility, alien life would have to rely on radio waves to contact Earth.
It is amazing how people who possess so much book knowledge can be so deficient in reasoning power. Let's pretend for a moment that there is extraterrestrial intelligent life out there. Who says that that life would use radio waves? Would it not be very possible for highly advanced alien beings to consider communication by radio waves outdated? Would it not be very possible for highly advanced alien life to have successfully constructed a space ship capable of interstellar travel? On the one hand, astronomers speak of the possibility of aliens being much more advanced than Earth, perhaps even beyond what we can imagine. Nevertheless, they continue to place "restrictions" on alien life such as the need to use radio waves to communicate. That way of thinking itself is not necessarily intelligent, because alien life might not be subject to the laws of physics just because "Earthlings" are.
It is no wonder that we read in the Christian Bible the truth that the "foolish" things of God make more sense than the wisdom that man thinks he has. Most astronomers believe in the foolish theory of evolution. Therefore, it is not surprising that they believe they know what extraterrestrial intelligent life can and cannot do. We read, "...The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (KJV, 1 Corinthians 2:25).
Spiritual Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life
Could perhaps the laypeople who believe that alien beings are the spiritually enlightened forefathers of the people of Earth be on the right track? New Agers are among the people who believe that aliens can be contacted through things and practices such as pyramid magic, the divine matrix, astral travel, and highly developed telepathy.
This is why the practice of various forms of extrasensory perception is encouraged. This is why the practice of astral travel is encouraged as well as belief in a fourth and even fifth dimension. The word of God, however, offers divine wisdom regarding the search for extraterrestrial intelligent life--a search that should not preoccupy the mind of man who was placed in the garden of Eden on Earth, not on other planets.
We read, "The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's, but the earth hath he given to the children of men (man)" (Psalm 115:16). God teaches man that space (the heavens) and its secrets belong to him. Man's place is on Earth, not in space. It is no wonder that travel in space poses risks to the physical body as well as to the mind. The lack of gravity, the presence of radiation, and the extremes in temperatures are just some of the risks of traveling and being in the heavens of outer space.
The question that remains is: Does extraterrestrial intelligent life even exist? How do the scriptures of the word of God answer that question? Find out in our article,
