Scripture of The Day - St. John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The Importance of Small Group Bible Study Prayer
Small group Bible study prayer should be lifted by a group who is on one accord and in accordance with the will of God as revealed in scripture. Sadly, this type of prayer is almost obsolete in small groups, Bible studies, and Sunday school classes.
Become a Small Group Bible Study Prayer Team
The goal of Christian Bible study should not be purely to socialize or to show off one's knowledge of the scriptures. It should be to gain in-depth understanding of the word of God for the purpose of being obedient to it. Small group Bible study prayer should be made at the beginning and at the end of each session; and it should cover the things that are in the will of God.
The group should be a team, because God loves team work among his servants as evidenced in the scripture of 1 Corinthians 12:12-22. Of course this means that a prayer list can, and should consist of the needs of the individual members of the body of Christ making up the group.
Pray for Understanding
Small group Bible study prayer should include asking God for understanding of his word, which he promises to give liberally (James 1:5-8). This is very important, because the Bible says, "Get wisdom, get understanding, forget it not..." (Prov. 4:5). It is sad that there's a large number of Christians who have been regular church goers for decades who can't answer basic questions about the doctrine of Christ.
Small group Bible study prayer should, in part, be aimed at strengthening each and every participant's walk with Jesus. As you pray for understanding, you must actively seek understanding and continue praying and seeking. Heavenly Manna focuses on providing biblical answers to very hard questions about life, God, and the scriptures. Our site can be easily searched with keywords using our search engine.
Forgotten Prayers
Sadly, the members of the body of Christ around the world who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus seem to be virtually forgotten. Many of the modern day martyrs have been literally tortured for even daring to own a copy of the Christian Bible. Small group Bible study prayer should be fervent and genuine supplication for the persecuted church around the world. If there is no concern for these brethren, there is something wrong.
And what about the multitude of problems in the world that cause horrific suffering? If God cares, which he does, then his servants should also care, because they claim that his love resides in them. Small group Bible study prayer should be regularly and genuinely lifted regarding:
1. Abused children
2. Abused animals
3. Abuse of the elderly
4. Abuse of the mentally challenged
5. The reign of violence in so many of America's neighborhoods
6. The demonic message that there's nothing wrong with homosexuality, including those that are being taught to very young children
7. America's acceptance of the antiChristian messages of the New Age movement
8. The problem of kids being terrorized by bullies
9. Wickedness and injustice in city, county, state, and federal government
10. The goal of true Islam (to destroy Christianity)
This list could go on and on. However, it is sufficient when asking the question of how often small group Bible study prayer even makes mention of any of them. Please check out our articles that deal with these and so many more issues that are being ignored by Christian churches. Individuals who lead or who are a part of a Bible study group are strongly encouraged to follow the voice of God. Following the voice of a pastor, minister, Christian leader or famous Christian author does not always amount to following the voice of Christ for soul-winning ministry.
Small group Bible study prayer does not have to be highly "structured." It should be led and controlled by the Spirit of the Lord. Encourage participation by every member who has truly repented and received Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is especially important to avoid quenching the Spirit in favor of time restraints or tradition when it comes to prayer for these serious problems.
