The Rewards of Christian Volunteering
Christian volunteering can be most rewarding for people who want to make a difference in the lives of others. There are many Christian mission volunteer opportunities available for believers to use whatever skills they have in service to Christ. I know that it can sometimes be frustrating applying for volunteer positions for which the organization wants to put you through a lot. However, I was able to do Christian volunteering with the Catholic Worker House in my area. I'm not Catholic, but I was able to help out with the work involved with running a feeding house for the homeless and the needy.
Although it might not necessarily be considered Christian volunteering, my sponsor of a little girl through World Vision was very rewarding. She was only eight years old when they first assigned her to me. When she turned 19, she was too old to be in the program. But, that's okay. She had grown up and was in good health, had an education, an introduction to the gospel of Jesus and was ready to leave home. I'll never forget her.
Christians have the opportunity to use the gifts, talents, and skills God allowed them to gain, for the promotion of the gospel. Sometimes our own problems get solved by reaching out to someone else in their time of need.
