Does Biblical Scripture Speak of Demonic Healing?
What Is Demonic Healing and What Is Divine Healing?
Healing can be of the physical body, the spirit, or the mind, because man is a three part being (1 Thess. 5:23). All of the three parts of him can be sick; he can be physically, mentally, or spiritually sick. Demonic refers to being of, related to, or caused by demons or devils. Demonic healing, therefore, is healing worked by evil spirits. Divine healing, on the other hand, is almost always associated with the healing that is worked by the Lord. Scripture of the Christian Bible teaches us that evil spirits can cause physical sickness and abnormalities (Mark 9:25), mental illness (Mark 5:1-8), and spiritual sickness such as spiritual blindness (2 Cor. 4:4, 1 John 2:11).
Is Demonic Healing Real?
Jesus said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (KJV, Matthew 7:21-23).
Miraculous healing certainly would be considered a wonderful work by most people. What was wrong with the people in this scripture who had performed wonderful works in the name of Jesus? Christ said that they were workers of iniquity. Why? Because, he had never known them. Therefore, the name in which they had performed wonderful works was not the name of the Son of God. They had performed "wonderful" works such as demonic healing in the name of a false Christ. Yes, the Lord warned that, "...There shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" (Matthew 24:24).
More Scriptural Evidence of Unholy Healing
Although Matthew 7:21-23 speaks of workers of iniquity who had prophesied, cast out devils, and performed wonderful works, it does not specifically speak of demonic healing. However, the scripture of Revelation 13:2-3 does speak of demonic healing. It says, "And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion. And, the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed...."
The territory of demonic healing is sometimes treaded upon in the practice of some forms of alternative medicine that involve spirituality.
