Are There Natural Remedies for Cystic Fibrosis?
What Is Cystic Fibrosis?
Before discussing natural remedies for cystic fibrosis, there is the need to understand the very basics of the disease. It is a devastating abnormality of the endocrine system, which consists of glands that are cells or organs that secrete hormones required for the regulation of vital functions. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that primarily affects Caucasians. Other ethnic groups, however, can be victims. Because of the disorder, chloride is unable to pass through cells of the body as it should. This leads to abnormally high levels of sodium loss and the production of very thick secretions of mucus. The lungs are not the only organs affected. Digestion is always impaired, resulting in malnutrition; and the liver and pancreas can suffer damage. Despite all, there are some natural remedies for cystic fibrosis. However, there are no known cures for the disease. A remedy is not at all the same thing as a cure when speaking of medical problems.
The Goal of Natural Treatment for Cystic Fibrosis
The goal of natural remedies for cystic fibrosis is to combat as much as possible the problem of respiratory distress and malnutrition caused by the thick, excess mucus in the upper and lower airways and in the intestines. Struggling to breath all of the time robs victims of a quality life. Malnutrition caused by improper absorption of nutrients from foods in the impaired intestines keeps the door open for serious infections as the defenses of the body are weakened.
Simple and Natural Remedies for Cystic Fibrosis
Now that the goal is known, concentration can be put on meeting that goal. The importance of a very nutrient dense, truly natural diet cannot be overemphasized. The proper and safe use of herbs for cystic fibrosis cannot be overemphasized. The following changes in diet are considered by some to be part of a plan of natural remedies for cystic fibrosis:
1. Avoidance of ALL foods that have been genetically altered and/or polluted with chemicals to preserve, flavor, or colorize. Modern wheat, including the "wholesome" whole wheat, is NOT a natural food. It has even been called a "frankenfood" by some, because of its link to Celiac disease, heart disease, and even cancer. It is a genetically modified "food." Modern "wheat" is used to make breads and pasta. Its flour is used to bake cookies, cakes, pies, to make gravy, and so much more. An immediate switch to an heirloom (genetically pure) wheat is highly recommended if Celiac disease is not present. Heirloom wheat includes, but is not limited to: spelt, kamut, einkorn, and emmer. This is important in a plan to use all natural remedies for cystic fibrosis.
Heirloom wheat is the wheat that the Lord made and is the wheat referred to when mentioned in the Bible. Spelt wheat is used just like modern whole "wheat" with the exception of the need to add about two additional tablespoons of water. It is much higher in nutrients and will not cause additional harm to the intestines as does modern "wheat." People with cystic fibrosis might want to seriously consider learning how to sprout heirloom grains because of the dense nutrition that is in them.
2. Use of very little sugar in the diet. This requires taking the time to read labels because nutrient depleted and harmful
sugar has so many names. "Corn syrup" and "high fructose corn syrup" are among those names.
3. Maintenance of optimal levels of friendly flora in the "gut." The drinking of water nowadays can deplete friendly flora levels because of chlorine in tap water or in the preparation of bottled water. Also, the use of antibiotics, including natural antibiotics, takes a toll on friendly flora levels. If yogurt cannot or should not be consumed, there are other sources of friendly flora such as miso soup and friendly flora supplements from a natural foods store. Natural remedies for cystic fibrosis consists mainly of diet changes.
4. If salt is permitted by the patient's doctor, there should be a strong preference for an all natural sea or rock salt, not the usual table salt that is made in a laboratory. It might also be a good idea to sterilize sea salt by heating it in the oven to help cut down on any potential exposure to bacteria. People who do not have cystic fibrosis use sea salt with no such concerns.
5. Green leafy vegetables MUST be an integral part of the diet. Watercress, salads made with wholesome lettuce (not iceberg); and collard, turnip, and mustard greens are extremely beneficial. Greens are very cleansing, nourishing, and delicious when properly cooked and seasoned. Heavenly Manna, in the near future, plans to offer cooking videos FREE of charge for the preparation of heirloom foods that many have forgotten and to which they need to return.
6. Natural remedies for cystic fibrosis also includes herbs for cystic fibrosis. Natural antibiotics include: garlic (excellent for expelling mucus from deep within the lungs), colloidal silver (use of homemade colloidal silver is strongly discouraged), and echinacea (should not be used in the presence of autoimmunity without consulting a medical doctor).
Divine Healing
Many Christians claim belief in divine healing; however, they rarely understand it. Consequently, they rarely believe God for healing. Natural remedies for cystic fibrosis should not be an automatic substitute for seeking the only true cure--divine healing in Christ.
