Norse Magic: Why Some Doubt It
Norse Magic by D.J. Conway: The Amazing Claims
On the back cover of the book, Norse Magic, by D.J. Conway, there are some amazing claims surrounding the power of the practice of Norse Magic. We read, "Learn how to: see into the future, attain wealth, gain love, gain protection, banish negative entities; promote physical, mental and spiritual health." D.J. Conway states that his book is for, "...Those who believe in taking an active part in shaping their own future."
Questioning the Power of Norse Magic
Wealth, love, protection, knowledge of the future, and health are said to be the fruit of practicing Norse magic. But, what has life taught us about the attainment of these things? What has the word of God taught us about the attainment of these things? Knowledge of, and reflection on life lessons, which agree with scripture of the Christian Bible, are enough to cause anyone with basic critical thinking skills to seriously question the claims of Norse magic.
Wealth
Many unscrupulous, greedy business men and women will attest to the fact that Norse magic is not at all what's needed to attain wealth. Many of the people who worked very hard to honestly earn their wealth never practiced a form of magic or witchcraft. A question we could ask about this claim is, "Why can't the poor governments of the world or those that are in debt practice this system of magic to attain wealth?"
Love
Money can't buy love, but the practice of Norse magic can bring it to you? In the first place, who would want love that had to be forced by magic? Would it even be real love? Belief in Norse magic to achieve the claims made is like living in a fantasy world.
Protection
One of the claims that D.J. Conway makes in his book is that Norse magic can protect against "negative entities." The Christian Bible condemns all forms of magic (Deuteronomy 18:10-12), meaning that they're associated with evil spirits. The same word of God also makes it clear that there is no such thing as neutral entities, which is explained in the article, Is There Such a Thing As Neutral Supernatural Beings?. To banish "negative entities" using Norse magic amounts then to using satanic power against satanic power. Jesus taught, "...Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. And a house divided against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand?..." (KJV, Luke 11:17-18).
Future Events
The claim that practicing this form of magic from antiquity allows you to peer into the future also is in sharp disagreement with the word of God. The scripture of James 4:14-15 says, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall do this, or that." How can we expect to know the future, when we don't even know if we'll live to see the near future of tomorrow?
Health
The United States is plagued with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental illness, and every other kind of health problem. Is the practice of Norse magic helping these people? No, it is not. Much is revealed about divine healing in the word of God--a wisdom that, sadly, far too few people are gaining because of their hostility against the gospel.
