Echinacea, sometimes listed as Echinacea Purpurea when it is an ingredient in products, is an alterative, parasiticide, antiseptic, and analgesic. An alterative is a substance that helps to purify the blood. A parasiticide kills parasites. An antiseptic, when applied to the skin (used externally), helps to prevent the growth of bacteria. An analgesic helps to relieve pain. It is no wonder that the practice of using echinacea for infection is steadily growing.
How Does Echinacea for Infection Work?
Among other benefits of echinacea is the fact that this wonderful herb helps to cleanse the lymphatic system, which plays a vital role in helping the body to defend itself against disease. When this herb is consumed, the lymphatic system is actually stimulated--a fact that has been scientifically proven.
In times past this all natural, herbal medicine that God provided was used to treat skin wounds, insect bites, and gangrene, until a surgeon could perform an amputation. Echinacea Side Effects and Safety

To think that all natural, herbal medicines are as safe as drinking water is to make the grave mistake of underestimating their great medicinal power. This is part of the reason why some people don't trust herbs to treat serious illness, including cancer. Nevertheless, numerous people have recovered from cancer using nothing but all natural medicines. These people never underestimated the power of the herbs with which they were treated. Herbs must be respected, because properly used, they can cure, and improperly used, they can kill. Remember that in ancient times, all natural, herbal poisons were used to carry out executions and to commit suicide.
How to Use Echinacea for Infection
If you really want to return to the use of all natural medicines, do not purchase tinctures, formulas, pills, or "potions" labeled as "all natural." Instead, opt for the use of the bulk herb, preferably organically grown or wild crafted. You can make your own herbal tincture, herbal pills, and herbal tea once you have the bulk herb.
How much echinacea do you take? If the ailment is acute, the generally recommended dosage is one teaspoon of the tincture every hour or two. You can also grind the herb into a powder and fill two "00" size capsules to be taken every hour or two. Alternatively, you could drink echinacea tea in the amount of a cupful 5-6 times per day. Do not sweeten. Most types of infection thrive in sugar. If you just insist on a sweetener, opt for stevia or just a little honey.
