What Does the Bible Say About Spiritual Beings?
Biblical Definition of Spiritual Beings
After Jesus rose from the dead to eternal life, he appeared on numerous occasions to many people, including his disciples. The people who could not comprehend the reality of his resurrection from the grave considered him a spirit, and feared him. We read, "...The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But, they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And, why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me, and see; for A SPIRIT HATH NOT FLESH AND BONES as ye see me have" (KJV, Luke 24:34-39).
This is one of the scriptures from the Christian Bible that gives us God's definition of what spiritual beings are. They have neither tangible bodies of flesh nor bones as living people and animals have. Keep in mind, however, that some spiritual beings have the power to take on the tangible, audible, and visible form of a man. This is why the scripture of Hebrews 13:2 reads, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers for thereby some have entertained angels unawares (unknowingly)."
The angels of God are spiritual beings (Hebrews 1:13-14) who can transform themselves into the form of a man to do the Lord's will. This is how they can be entertained unknowingly. The individual who receives them into his house or company will see and interact with a being that looks like an ordinary person.
Types of Spiritual Beings
Many people reckon that spiritual beings fall into one of three categories: good, evil, or neutral. However, this is not the case according to the word of God, which warns that there are no neutral spirits. The forms of life in the spirit realm are either good, and in service to the Lord Jesus, or they are evil entities and in service to Satan.
