Ghosts Are Real According to the Christian Bible
Are Ghosts Evil?
Most people who believe in the existence of ghosts and supernatural beings consider them to be either good, evil or neutral. But, what does the Christian Bible say on the subject of ghosts and supernatural beings? Can they be good; can they be neutral or are ghosts evil in their intentions and purposes? It's interesting to note that when scripture speaks of spirits, they are identified as either being in the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan. How do the scriptures make this distinction? The distinction is made by labeling all spiritual beings as belonging to one side or to the other. The biblical passage of 1 Corinthians 10:21 teaches that, "ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. Ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and of the table of devils."
The reader sees that there are only two cups to drink and there are only two tables of which to partake. The one cup belongs to the kingdom of Satan and the other to the kingdom of the Lord. The one table is in the kingdom of Satan and the other is in the kingdom of God. There is no mention of a neutral cup or of a neutral table. The line of distinction is clearly drawn. This assures that spiritual beings or ghosts are real according to the Bible. This also assures that they are not neutral. If they aren't neutral, they must be either good or evil. Do we find that ghosts are evil according to the Christian Bible?
The biblical scripture of 1 John 4:1-3 declares, "...believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God and this is that spirit of antichrist....
Further study of biblical scripture reveals the true meaning of confessing that Christ has come in the flesh--a confession of his divinity. The passage of 1 John speaks of there being the spirit of Christ or the spirit of antichrist. There's no mention of any other type of spirit being in existence. A belief in neutral spirits simply cannot agree with God's word in light of what it says. Yes, ghosts are real according to the Christian Bible. Although they are never neutral, does scripture say that they can be good? If scriptures says that they are neither good nor neutral, we are left with answering the question, "Are ghosts evil?" in the affirmative.
The test of the spirits, a test mentioned in 1 John 4:1-3 is not the only wisdom the Bible offers on ghosts. Where are the specific scriptures that answer "Yes" to the question, "Are ghosts evil?"
