Scripture of The Day - 1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world
I Think My House Is Haunted
I Think My House Is Haunted, Or Am I Crazy?
Many children and adults are literally scared to go to sleep at night. The problem is not always one of having nightmares. Sometimes the people asking, "Is my house haunted?" are hearing things that are invisible. They are smelling strange odors. They are seeing beings that do not have a tangible body, seeing things move by themselves, or sensing the presence of spiritual beings.
If you are one of these people, don't automatically assume that these things are simply all in your mind. Paranormal activity is real and there is almost a legitimate reason why a person says, "I think my house is haunted." The word "think" really means "know." However, it's often more comforting for people to say "I think" rather than "I know," because "I know" confirms frightening suspicions. To confirm suspicion of paranormal activity does not automatically translate into mental disturbance.
What Should or Can I Do?
If you have begun to say, "I know my house is haunted," rather than, "I think my house is haunted," you're probably now wondering what to do. Every situation is different, and everyone is different. This is why some people will choose to change their residence, while others will accept advice to appease the spirits, or to learn to not be afraid of them. There also are people who will seek out real ghost hunters and busters, or choose to have a seance to discover who the spirits are.
True Christian believers in Jesus, however, turn to the word of God when they say, "I think my house is haunted." Do the scriptures say anything about haunted houses? Remember that a haunted house is a place in which paranormal activity takes place. The Christian Bible has much to say about what to do and what NOT to do when faced with paranormal activity.
Learning About the Paranormal
The very first warning concerning the gaining of knowledge about the paranormal is to beware of the sources from which you learn. The word of God offers the wisdom that true followers of Christ need in order to understand what is going on and how to respond in the power of God. There are very serious warnings in biblical scripture regarding ghost hunting/busting, seances, psychic readings, parapsychology, etc. There is also instruction for handling situations that cause you to say, "I think my house is haunted."
Christians who are encountering paranormal activity in their life would do well to learn the reasons that might be behind the problem. Heavenly Manna offers a vast library of teaching articles and Bible studies on the subject based on scripture and real-life experience. Below are only a few of such articles. Search the entire category dedicated to a Christian response to paranormal activity or search our site using keywords. If you are a Christian believer saying, "I think my house is haunted," it probably is.
