¿Qué tiene que ver conmigo? por Teófila Gottfried

Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ: What Does the Christian Bible Say about Her? - Part II
This is a continuation of: Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ: What Does the Christian Bible Say about Her? - Part I Reading of part I is highly recommended before reading this second part.
Should Prayer Be Directed to Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ?
Other teachings about the mother of God include making prayers to her. Again, what does scripture say about prayers made by God's children? To whom should they pray? Christ himself taught his people how to pray. What did he say to do? He taught, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our FATHER which art in heaven..." (Matthew 6:9). To whom is he saying to direct prayer? The answer is simple--to the Father. There is not one scripture of the Christian Bible that tells man directly or indirectly to pray to anyone but to God himself. Why then would prayer be made to Mary the mother of Jesus Christ and the practice of Christianity still be claimed?
Furthermore Jesus taught, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth labourers into his harvest" (Matthew 9:38). Again, to whom is man to pray? He is to pray to the Lord. Is Mary the mother of Jesus Christ the Lord? No, she is not; therefore, prayer is not to be directed to her or anyone else if there is a genuine desire to obey the scriptures.
Mary the Mother of God: Does She Make Intercession?
Other teachings about Mary the mother of Jesus Christ include promoting the belief that she is a mediator between God and man, and that she somehow makes intercession for the saints. Again, what do the scriptures of the Christian Bible say about such a belief? We read in 1 Timothy 2:5 that, "...there is one God, and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus."
The scripture is neither difficult to understand nor can it be said to have multiple "interpretations." It is very clear; it is very plain. Mary the mother of Jesus Christ is not the mediator between God and man, and she does not make intercession. We also read, "...Jesus the mediator of the new covenant..." (Hebrews 12:24). And we read, "Wherefore he (Jesus) is able also to save the to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens" (Hebrews 7:25-26).
Is Mary the mother of Jesus Christ able to save anyone? Was she called holy? Was she separate from sinners? Was she made higher than the heavens? All of these questions are answered in the negative by scripture. Mary was called "blessed (Luke 1:42)," but she was NOT called holy. Was she separate from sinners? Not at birth.
Mary the Mother of God Was Born a Sinner?
Was Mary the mother of Jesus Christ born a sinner? What does scripture from God's word say? It teaches, "Wherefore, as by one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that ALL HAVE SINNED" (Romans 5:12). We also read, "...Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps, who did no sin..." (1 Peter 2:21-22).
We are told that all have sinned, and we are told that Christ did no sin. To what does this amount? It says that all have sinned except for Jesus. Does not "all" include Mary the mother of
Jesus Christ? Yes, it does.
No, Mary the mother of Jesus Christ was not a perpetual virgin. She is not the mediator between God and man. She is neither to be worshiped nor is
prayer to be directed to her, because she was born a sinner as was everyone in the world. These are the truths of biblical Christianity.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
