The Power of Words for Blessing and Cursing: It Is Limited
Note: If you have not read, The Power of Words, it's unlikely you will fully benefit from this read.
Uncontrolled Blessing and Cursing?
Considering that scripture clearly reveals the power in the tongue, in the spoken word, to pronounce blessings and curses, it might appear that everyone is vulnerable to being cursed by his enemies. It might also appear that wicked people can be blessed by those who agree with their wickedness. The Christian Bible addresses these legitimate concerns. First, those who are outside of the "ark of safety" (without salvation) truly are much more vulnerable to the power of words for blessings and curses than faithful followers of Christ.
The power of words is limited directly by God, including the power behind blessing and cursing. While most people associate God only with blessings, the Lord also curses. This truth is proven with scripture in True Blessings Are From God: Can Curses Come From God As Well?, so it will not be repeated here. Ministers of Satan, through the practice of arts such as witchcraft "bless" with Satanic blessings, and they curse with Satanic curses. A true child of God, however, knows who is always in control--Jesus. He also knows that though a minister of Satan can use the power of words to pronounce a curse on him, God's word tells the believer"...Greater is he (Jesus) that is in you than he (the enemy) that is in the world" (1 John 4:4)
The curses of the enemy against the children of God cannot stand against the blessing of Jesus pronounced by God himself on his servants--unless they allow themselves to be bullied by the enemy.
A Real Life Experience With Witchcraft
A young Christian woman who was informed of the working of witchcraft in the form of a curse against her, experienced mysterious and seemingly unsurmountable problems in every area of her life. During her seeking God for deliverance, she had a dream that revealed her answered that had also been delivered to her in other forms. In her dream, she was doing housework during which she was repeatedly attacked by a cat that threatened her and would scratch and claw her.
She greatly feared the cat and wondered how to make him go away and leave her alone. She received her answer in her dream--she needed only to take authority over the cat. She turned to the cat and commanded him to leave her house, to leave her alone. The cat, in submission, tucked his tail, turned, and left her alone and left her house. The curse had truly been worked against her and the trouble she experienced was real. However, the power that was in her is greater than the power that was behind the Satanic curse.
The power of words pronounced by man, whether they be for blessings or curses, is limited. Do we not remember that God has the power to curse blessings (Malachi 2:2)?
