Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Fortunately, many people who never study or even read the Bible, believe that it is the word of God and accept it as truth. They may not have any intention to repent or change their lives, but at least they become aware that what they've heard is truth. There are also those who don't regard the Bible as the word of God. Most of these people have been raised in religions that have their scripture that they regard as sacred.
A common mistake made by many Christians, including leaders, is neglecting to see the need to share the word of God with the latter group. This doesn't mean that they don't believe such people can be converted to Christ. However, they don't see this happening by sharing with them the scriptures of a book in which they don't believe in the first place.
Nevertheless, such a belief is actually a sign of unbelief in just how powerful the word of God is. One real-life account of the authority of scripture involves an Indian follower of Hinduism. His desire was to become a spiritual leader and instruct and lead many people into oneness with Brahma (a Hindu god). He was so convinced of his calling that he yearned for part of his ministry to include debunking the "myths" of the Bible.
He, therefore, was determined to study and know the Bible in preparation for teaching how it is senseless to believe in the word of God. During his reading of the scriptures, he himself came under conviction and was convinced of his own need for God, leading to his conversion and salvation. His testimony is only one of thousands which can be easily verified by the true stories captured by the reporters of ministries such as the VOM (Voice of the Martyrs).
It is for a reason that the Bible forcefully reminds that, "...the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (KJV, Hebrews 4:12).
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
