The Cosmos: What Is It in Reality?
One of the definitions of The Cosmos is, "The sum total of everything that extends even beyond the Milky Way galaxy, an orderly system. Indeed, not only is planet Earth organized in terms of how the atmosphere works, the changing of seasons, the reproduction of life, etc., but all of space has order. The other planets stay on the course on which the Lord set them to revolve around the sun, which He also placed at the perfect distance from Earth so that life would neither die from too much heat nor too much cold. Is this the cosmos? No, not exactly, because all orderly systems were ordered by some being, and they are maintained in order, not by themselves, but by a commander. Genes order the make-up of living things. The military maintains order through commanding officers. The leaders of nations keep their countries in order through laws, commandments, and authority. Computer programs work because they follow the orders that the programmer wrote. Where there is order, there also is someone who gives the orders. Consequently, the cosmos, being an orderly sum total of everything, must have at least one commander. Where instructions and orders have been given, some intelligent being/s gave those instructions and orders.
Who Commands the Cosmos?
Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Not only do we see that God is the Creator of the planet on which we live, we also see that He is the Creator of the heavens. Scientists have discovered that there are different levels of heaven--something that the Christian Bible had already told us (Deut. 10:14). Space, known as the "final frontier," is part of the higher heavens--part of the cosmos. So, we now see who is the Creator of the cosmos and its order. Throughout the first chapter of the Old Testament book of Genesis, we see that this Creator set up order. He separated the bodies of water to make dry land. He ordered the workings of genetics when he commanded that all living things reproduce more living things like themselves, which is nothing short of the definition of biogenesis. He separated the day from the night; and created the sun, moon, and other lights in the heavens.
Genesis, however, is not the only book of the Bible where we read of the creation and orderly set-up of the cosmos. In several books of the Bible such as Job, the Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Acts, Romans, etc., we read amazing facts that are in perfect agreement with scientists, though the Bible was not written by scientists.
