Vodka as Mouthwash
Vodka as Mouthwash in the Old Days
Although many things in dental and health care have improved since the old day, some of the archaic remedies and treatments are still the best. Vodka as mouthwash is one of those things. More and more people are choosing an all natural mouthwash over commercial ones for several reasons. They are often more effective, are free of harmful ingredients such as artificial colors, which are frequently found in commercial oral rinses; and sometimes they are cheaper.
Tooth infection can quickly turn into a very serious health problem, not only because it can be extremely painful, but also because it can lead to poisoning of the system. Some people rely on all natural treatments to successfully deal with tooth infection, if the nerve has not died, while others prefer to trust professional dental care. The true saying that, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," has lead many people to change the way they eat and how they take care of their teeth.
Vodka Kills Germs
Vodka as mouthwash to help ward off tooth infection and periodontal disease is so effective because of the simple fact that vodka kills germs, including mouth germs. How do you use vodka as mouthwash? Who should not use it? It is highly recommended to first thoroughly brush the teeth with an all natural dentifrice such as baking soda water (approximately 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in about 1/2 glass of water). Next, brush the tongue, and gently brush the cheeks and roof of the mouth by dipping the toothbrush preferably into a little baking soda in the palm of the hand. This provides the abrasive power needed to clean the tongue, a power that is not in baking soda water. However, the water mixtures is used on the teeth, not the actual baking soda, to prevent damaging the natural enamal. Yes, the bulk of mouth germs are actually found on the tongue and cheeks, not on the surface of the teeth. This is why it is very important to brush the tongue as well as the cheeks when you brush your teeth.
Next, you can use vodka as mouthwash to kill mouth germs responsible for tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth infection. Simply swish about 1/2 - 1 tablespoon of pure vodka in the mouth until the burn completely stops. Vodka as mouthwash burns as it kills mouth germs, but if you can stand the burning of regular Listerine® you can withstand the burning of vodka, which is all natural. Remember that other types of natural alcohol such as gin and rum also can be used as an all natural mouthwash.
Who Should Not Use Vodka as Mouthwash?
Obviously, people who might be tempted to consume alcohol such as recovering alcoholics probably should not use vodka as alcohol. If, however, this is not a problem for you, the germ killing power of this natural product can prove very beneficial in helping to prevent dental problems.
