Christians Beware: Satan Attacks the Mind - Part I
Guard Your Heart and Mind: Satan Attacks the Mind
The scripture of 1 Corinthians 2:16 says, "...we have the mind of Christ." Some Christians, unfortunately, have taken this scripture to mean that believers in Christ have no need to ever even question if they can come under any form of demonic mind control. Consequently, they reject the truth that Satan attacks the mind of Christians as well as the mind of those who are not followers of Jesus. The truth about demonic mind control, however, just is not that cut and dried. Understanding begins with knowing truly what it means to have
the mind of Christ--and knowing what it does NOT mean. Christians who are teaching, "Guard your heart and mind," teach in accordance with the word of God, which warns that Satan attacks the mind of believers and unbelievers alike.
Biblical Evidence that Satan Attacks the Mind
God's word instructs, "Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Ephesians 6:11-17).
Does the above scripture really say that Satan attacks the mind? Does not the scripture speak of the loins of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation? Where do truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation reside? They reside in the mind (heart). If the war is not real, why does the passage tell us to put on the ARMOR of God? If it is not true that Satan attacks the mind, why does the passage speak of the "fiery darts" of the wicked? The mind is a real battlefield where a real war takes place as Satan attacks the mind.
Demonic Mind Control Through Reasonable Thoughts
Proverbs 14:12 warns, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." This is only one of numerous scriptures that reminds man that he has a way of seeing things, of rationalizing. It also lets him know that his rationale can lead to death. We are told that the wages of sin are death (Romans 6:23); therefore, man's rationale that is sinful leads to death. Rationale is in the mind, which is why we are to be found, "...bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5).
