Born Bad: Is There Such a Thing As Bad Blood?

baby.jpg

The Biblical Definition of Bad Blood

What does the Christian Bible say about people who are said to have been born with bad blood? The first truth to consider is the one that reminds that everyone starts out with what is generally referred to as the "sin nature" inherited from Adam and Eve after their fall from grace in the garden of Eden (Romans 5:12). This means that everyone is born with a innate inclination toward committing sin.

Although everyone is born bad in the sense that all are born with a sinful nature. Most people do not commit heinous acts and shocking crimes. But, what about those who do? Are they the product of a bad childhood? Were they born with some type of mental illness in addition to the inherited sinful nature? Have they been traumatized by some type of abuse at some point in their life? It can't be disputed that some people have been negatively altered by a harmful childhood, were born or made mentally ill, and/or have endured some form of personality-altering trauma.

By the same token, there are individuals who have suffered none of the tragedies mentioned, yet they are wicked and evil. What is the problem?

There's a proverb from Africa that goes, "The devil tempts, but he doesn't force." It obviously translates to a rejection of "The devil made me do it" excuse. The outward manifestations of the sinful nature are often referred to by God's word as the "works of the flesh." The scripture of Galatians 5:19 enumerates some of those works. "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like...."

There's a big difference in being an alcoholic and being a murderer. Notice, however, that the scripture listed both "drunkenness" and "murders" as works of the flesh. Some people are more prone to commit what are considered damnable works of the sinful nature while others commit sins that are acceptable, at least in the eyes of man.

If someone is truly "naturally" more prone to commit sins that often cause others to say that he was just born bad, could he have been born with an abnormally strong sinful nature? The Bible doesn't say that the sinful nature is passed down to some people in various strengths. To make such a conclusion, therefore, is a deduction that is not based on scripture. While there is evil influence and sometimes demonic bondage behind the works of the flesh, depending on what those works are, not everyone who appears to have been born bad is helpless when it comes to their actions and behavior. Some are helpless, but many are not.

One of the biblical solutions given to all of mankind when it comes to the problem of the sin nature is to resist the devil with a fierce determination. Many people remain in bondage and wickedness though they put forth some effort to change, because they haven't taken heed to the Bible's explanation for why some fail--"Ye have not yet resisted unto blood striving (fighting) against sin" (Heb. 12:4). This is one of the two groups of people who appear to have been born with bad blood. They simply are not willing to do whatever it takes to be free from sin. Resisting unto blood is much easier said than done. Freedom must be truly desired and that desire must be above all natural desire. God promises freedom and victory over sin when he is obeyed (St. John 8:32).

A Love for Sin

God's word reveals that there are people who not only refuse to strive against sin, they actually embrace the works of the flesh. These people will actually be sent a strong delusion by God so they will believe the final lie that will damn their soul. Such people don't want to know truth. Scripture warns, "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish, because they received not the love of the truth that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (II Thes. 2:10-12).

These people were not born bad; they were born with a sinful nature like anyone else. However, they love that sinful nature even to the point of taking pleasure in unrighteousness. And many who don't, still refuse to resist sin unto blood.

Comments/Comentarios:

But is loving and enduring sinful nature also hereditary? For instance, I know that serial killers Jefferey Dahmer, Gary Leon Ridgway, and also Ed Gein all have turned to religion to abide in faith and worship...but after only months or a year at most, their impulsive nature to kill consumes them to act out in committing another murder.

Do some people inherit psychopathy for a purpose though? And if so besides working as a spy or politics, or even military...what other reason is there that is under good intentions and influences that some people possessing psychopathy thrive here with all the rest of those living on earth?

And if it is deemed true that no one is born bad, how do you explain that individuals with no conscience simply live their lives and engage in wickedness until they die?

To Zach:

When you say, "if it is deemed true that no one is born bad...," please state to whom you are referring as the one who deems. The article explains that everyone is born a sinner, ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD. It is not concerned with man's opinion. It also explains why some people are so much more wicked than others. That information will not be repeated.

You also asked, "how do you explain that individuals with no conscience simply live their lives and engage in wickedness until they die?" That question is clearly answered in the article. Please read thoroughly.

Neither the Bible nor traditional science of man speaks of the existence of genes to influence the development of psychosis. Therefore, there's nothing to support belief in inheriting mental illness or criminal behavior. Some people, mostly Christians, have come to believe that there's such a thing as generational curses that cause a person to inherit a criminal and evil mind. The "theology" of generational curses, however, is not in agreement with the Bible. We've dealt with this thoroughly in our article:

The Danger Of Belief In Generational Curses

Psychopathy and psychosis is also two very different things. Psychopathy is consistent of those who perceive full contact with reality with no hallucinations, delusions, etc.

Psychosis is the opposite where the individual is actually someone who has a distortion of reality. It is not opinionated on the differences it is in all dictionaries as well that psychopathy and psychosis is not exactly the same thing.

I never said or meant any implication that there's such thing as generational curses. Before going into making assumptions that generational curses is where I am going or even exactly what I am implying, it does not hurt to ask me any questions about what I think or believe on the particular subject.

To Zach:

The article does not deal with the differences between psychopathy and psychosis, nor do most people care about the differences between the two. The topic relates to how the word of God answers the question of whether some people are born bad. They just want a simple answer, not psychological terms thrown at them.

Where did we ever say that you believed in generational curses? We do not say this in any part of our response to you. You asked us the question of whether people can inherit psychopathy. However, don't forget that right above where you asked this question, you also made mention of serial killers. According to mental health care professionals, serial killers suffer from various types of psychosis, which includes having hallucinations and being out of touch with reality.

It is accepted among Christians and non-Christian scientists that there are only two ways to inherit something: in genetic material or through generational blessings or curses. We answered the genetic side of things. Why would we not also mention the spiritual side in order to give you a thorough answer?

Thoroughly answering is NOT making assumptions. Remember, you are not the only one reading this material and when we answer, we are trying to answer you AND everyone else. It's not logical to assume that we are making assumptions about anything or anyone. We are giving all of the information we have to be of help. So, now we will ask you to not make assumptions simply because we are answering from every possible side that we can to thoroughly cover a topic.

Actually if your suffering from various forms of psychosis then that means your literally insane. How long ago did such mental health professionals stated that serial killers suffer from various forms of psychosis? That is usually discussed and concluded in the subject known as psychobiology.

Most serial killers lie, they lie about suffering hallucinations and delusions and living in distortion of reality. For instance David Bekrowitz known as the Son Of Sam or the 44. caliber killer was a psychopath whom used insanity as a defense but he was not found incompetent to stand in trial. Bekrowitz is aware of the differences between right and wrong the whole time...he did not care that is it. He knows what he thought of doing and acted it out was completely wrong, but simply chose to do it anyway.

David Bekrowitz was lying stating that he was getting orders by a thousand year old demon telling him to kill, it was bogus when he stated that he was getting orders by his neighbors dog to kill. If he was really suffering from one and more forms of psychosis the court judge would have got him evaluated by either a psychologist or a psychiatrist to find out if there are indicators that he is mentally competent to stand in trial.

He stood in trial even the day when he was convicted and found guilty of multiple counts of murder in the first degree. If you watched Discovery ID channel program show the MOST EVIL, that would provide the insight from a forensic psychologist who studied multiple murderers in finding out in depth in regard to the legal term Mens rea: to find out if the crime was in any way intentional.

To Zach:

Few forensic psychologists believe what the Bible says about evil and the people who commit evil, especially in the form of serial killing. This content is NOT about what they believe compared to what the Bible says. This is not a "compare forensic psychology with the Bible" article.

My bad...though I do believe that it is best to know that you can only know so much on every subject in discussion....probably for some reason too behind that. One of which is only God knows all, and can only have us to gain so much knowledge. God tells us from his heart on what he wants us to know.

To Zach:

You state, "...I do believe that it is best to know that you can only know so much on every subject in discussion."

Our question: What is your point???? Who does not know a simple thing like that???? What does that have to do with this topic???? Let us add this: many people desperately attempt to break down the truth of God's word by whatever strategy they think will work. They try to divert the topic, argue, use extra-biblical sources...and remind that no one knows everything, which anyone who has reached the age of 5 should know.

Well, don't take this offensively but even strong Christians forget such simple facts once in a while. I know I do...and that is what my point is. Some religious people that I met just simply "shoved it down my throat," judge, has no respect for other people's opinions. I believe that what is stated in the Bible is true...however, some people out there have used religion as an excuse to justify their sins when they're responsible. There is no separation to a fact that were responsible for our own actions. Because our actions are always based upon a choice. If God gets angry for our sin, it is simply just that...we made a choice to do it and also it is a choice to continue on sinning.

I know, no one is perfect. But my point to that is, even if we all sin and it is a choice, there is no justifying and excusing it, you can only admit it truthfully in being responsible and ask for forgiveness. But even after asking in prayer forgiveness does not make you more supreme or even high as God...your still a sinner, your still a living human being.

To Zach:

You write, "Some religious people that I met just simply "shoved it down my throat."

Our response: We are NOT "some people" and we are not "shoving" anything down anyone's throat. Remember, YOU came to this site, we did not send our site to you. You have sent us a slew of comments and questions. When it comes to God's Word, our experience has been that people who return over and over to hear, see, or read more of the Bible, do so for only two reasons: 1. They're genuinely interested and are feeding from God's word. 2. They desperately want to break down truth that they don't like.

You write, "...judge, has no respect for other people's opinions." How many times have we repeated that the truth of God's word is not about opinion? Does a judge in a court of law ask a serial killer for his opinion about whether murder should be lawful or not? When a Christian says something like "adultery is a sin," he or she is not judging. He or she is telling the truth--and people know this.

Your right, your not like them. I just put the anger out on the wrong person about that. The other reply you don't have to answer, because like I had been I would correct it and try to make the last word. I'm wasting your time and didn't think before I made and send my comments. Your doing is only to mention your interpretations that is in God's word.

Our response: This is our ministry; you're not wasting our time. However, you are wasting YOUR time if you think that we are going to fall for the "various interpretations" ploy that so many people use when they don't like the biblical messages they hear.
