The Truth about Reiki: Have You been Deceived by the Masters?
The So-Called Curative Power of Reiki According to David F. Vennells, Author of Reiki for Beginners
In his book, David F. Vennells tells us of one of his first experiences with the "curative power of reiki." He tells us that for some time, he had forgotten to water a plant, and noticed that the flowers and leaves had withered. He immediately watered it, gave it some reiki, and hoped for the best. After about thirty minutes, he sees that the flowers and leaves have sprang back to life. That "the change is remarkable, wonderful."
Testimonials about the so-called curative power of reiki, like the one we've just read, are enough to make us leery of the absurd teachings of reiki. They're enough to make us ask ourselves if we've been deceived by reiki masters. And had he not watered the plant, would he have hoped for the best? Of course not, because he knows very well plants have to be watered if we don't want them to die. The author makes it sound like by supplying the plant with a little reiki, he was able to revive it. How ludicrous. The purpose of every lie is to deceive us, so we'll believe more lies. And what exactly are some of the lies reiki masters want us to believe?
"Reiki Possesses Wisdom and Compassion"
According to David F. vennells, "Reiki possesses wisdom and compassion." Hearing that, it's no wonder it's said that reiki is more than just energy. Indeed it is. Inanimate objects possess neither wisdom nor compassion. But intelligent beings do. Therefore, reiki cannot be anything other than intelligent beings. Every invisible being with intelligence is called a "spirit." And man is also a spirit, because he's composed of mind, body and spirit (The Holy Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). Now then, if reiki is compassionate, you'd think it must be good spirits we're dealing with. Right? But we're going to see if this is in line with what the Christian Bible says to know if we've been deceived by reiki masters. Mr. Vennells states that reiki is in agreement with every religious order, including Christianity. God's Word (the Bible) teaches that every spirit is either good or evil. That there's no such thing as neutral spirits. And keep in mind that man is also a spiritual being, simply because he's alive (Genesis 2:7), and is composed of spirit, as we stated above. Therefore, when it comes to spiritual matters, people cannot be neutral either.
From the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation, every spirit...every being is on God's side or against Him (Matthew 12:30). But he is never neutral. So, is reiki good spirits who are on God's side? That cannot be, because in his book, Reiki for Beginners, David F. Vennells teaches that reiki can be transmitted through laying hands on people. Translation: One or more spirits (reiki) can be transmitted to another person by laying hands on him...by touch. Let's consider what the following Scripture says, "And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money." (Acts 8:18-20)
There's no doubt that the Holy Spirit is good, because He is the Spirit of God. And we clearly see He cannot be indiscriminately given though the laying on of hands whenever we want, unlike in the system of reiki in which spirits are given at will. What's more is we know this is not about giving an angelic spirit, because in no part of the Bible do we see the saints of God giving good angels to other people by laying hands on them. So, reiki can neither be the Holy Spirit of God nor an angel of God. And remember that neutral spirits do not exist. The only conclusion at which we can arrive is that reiki is one or more evil spirits, whether they're demons or devils, also known as "unclean spirits" in biblical Scripture. What we're dealing with are wicked spirits from Satan's kingdom when we deal with reiki. There's a reason why the apostle Paul warned against taking the matter of laying hands on someone lightly. (1 Timothy 5:22).
The Correlation between Reiki and Buddhism
It's impossible to practice reiki and be a disciple of the Jesus of the Holy Christian Bible at the same time. Mr. David F. Vennells himself, the author of Reiki for Beginners, states that reiki and Buddhism go hand in hand. He says, "It was more and more difficult to see where reiki ended and where Buddhism began, and viceversa."
The Spirits of Buddhism Deny that Jesus Has Come in the Flesh
We read, "And every spirit that confeseth NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is NOT of God. And this is that spirit of antichrist." (1 John 4:3).
In other words, every spirit and every person who denies the divinity of Jesus are anti-Christ. "Had come in the flesh" denotes the divinity of Jesus. We don't say that people "come in the flesh," because every person comes (is born) in the flesh. That's why they're people. Why then is it said of Jesus that He came in the flesh if He was a mere man? We can only say that God came in the flesh, because God is a Spirit, not a man (Numbers 23:19, John 4:24). The spirits of Buddhism and reiki are anti-Christs. They cannot be good, nor can they be holy. Don't forget that we learned that no spirit is neutral. And if the spirit we're questioning is not of God, as is the case with the spirits of Buddhism and reiki, it must be diabolical. And everything diabolical is from the archenemy of Jesus. In other words, Satan. But can Satan do good? No, he cannot. The Lord Jesus calls Satan a thief. And He says of the thief that he "cometh not but for to kill, and to steal, and to destroy." (St. John 10:10) Satan tells us lies to deceive us. He tries to destroy whomever he can (1 Peter 5:8). And he seeks to kill us physically and spiritually, so we'll go to hell after death. Nevertheless, the Bible warns us that, Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no strange thing if his ministers also be transformed into the ministers of righteousness whose end is according to their works" (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). *check wording of scripture
There's nothing compassionate about reiki. And the wisdom of reiki is not of God, but rather of Satan. Though you might have been deceived by reiki masters, you can come out of the deception by embracing God's wisdom revealed in the Holy Bible. Jesus says to you, "Repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mark 3:15).
