Where Did the Different Races Come From?
God Created the Races of the World?
The biblical passage of Genesis 1:20-25 teaches us that the Lord made the various species of aquatic animals, the animal life that lives on land, and the fowls of the air. Scripture makes it plain that the different kinds of animals were created in the beginning. We read, "And God made the beasts of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind...." The different species, or kinds of animals were created in the beginning. But, what about the various ethnic groups of man? We read that the Lord said, "...Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." (Gen. 1:26). We don't read that God said, "Let us make man after his race/ethnic group." So, from where did the races come?
Explaining the Origin of the Different Ethnic Groups
Some people in the church, and who run in what are known as Christian circles teach that God created the races in the beginning, because, according to them, there is no other logical explanation. But, that logic is not found in the Bible. And, man is warned against adding to and/or taking away from the word of God (Deut. 4:2). So, if we refrain from saying that God made the various ethnic groups in the beginning because that is not something we read in Genesis, how then do we biblically answer the question: From where did the races come?
In the scripture of Acts 17:24, 26, we read, "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth...hath made of ONE BLOOD ALL NATIONS of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth...."
When the Lord made man, he made only Adam and Eve. In fact, he made Adam first, and then made his wife, Eve, from him (Gen. 2:21-23). This means that Adam was that one blood from whom God made not only Eve, but all of the world. In the beginning, the Lord made Adam. His word does not say that he created the races in the garden of Eden. He created Adam, one blood. From that one blood, he made all ethnic groups. This is the biblical answer to the question: From where did the races come?
Preservation of Ethnic Groups in Noah's Ark?
Just as there are erroneous teachings on how God created the races, there also are erroneous teachings on how the different ethnic groups were preserved. It is being taught that Noah was told by God to take a male and a female from each of the ethnic groups on earth into the ark, in order to preserve the various races. And, where in the word of God do we read such a thing? Nowhere.
We read,"And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him: every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark" (Gen. 8:18-19). Man does not creep upon the earth. Furthermore, in Gen. 7:2-3 we are reminded that the Lord told Noah, "Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and the female; and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth."
The theory that God created the various ethnic groups in the beginning and then preserved them by sending a male and female from each race into Noah's ark is found without biblical support. From where did the races come? They came from ONE BLOOD made by God, Adam (Acts 17:26). This is what Scripture says. Yes, it is important what we believe, because if we allow ourselves to be persuaded to believe something that is not in agreement with the Bible, we might open the door to being persuaded to believe other theories that are not taught by the Bible.
