Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
"Sorry if I smell like garlic." Todd apologized to his sister, Olivia, as she entered his apartment.
"Breathing problems again?" She asked, knowing that her brother was again battling a respiratory infection, as he had done since childhood.
"I know you're so sick of this," she said, her voice filled with sympathy.
"Sis, I'm so tired of this I don't know what to do. Good grief, I don't smoke or be around smoke. I use natural cleaning and personal care products; yet, I battle against the threat of bronchitis and pneumonia after catching the flu."
Chewing raw garlic and drinking a decoction of elecampane were Todd's long time effective remedies for bouts of respiratory infections.
"Since the doctors can't seem to help you, I did some research into alternative medicine. Many people with all kinds of health problems whom the doctors couldn't cure had to find their own cures. Todd, you're gonna have to eliminate the almost constant threat of something as serious as pneumonia, whatever it takes. Now, you might not be open to it, but in my reading up on natural cures for this, I learned some interesting things. Everybody has something called 'chi' energy. It's a person's life force and it can fall out of balance. When it does, you get sick. Now don't cut me off; they say that acupuncture--."
"Oh no. I don't think so!" Todd interrupted with his eyes closed and lips pursed firmly as he shook his head.
"You start stabbing me with needles and I will have problems. Thanks for being concerned, but no thanks."

How did he get in here? Todd asked himself in a panic as he struggled for his life against the powerful intruder whose hands around his neck felt like steel. He knew he couldn't hang on much longer without taking a breath, but he was helpless against the attacker intent on choking the life out of his body.
As Todd surrendered to his fate, he ceased to struggle against the murderer who vanished as suddenly as he--or it had materialized. The nightmare was over. But, as he jerked to a sitting position in his bed, he knew that though the intruder was not real, his struggle to breath had been.
Switching on the lamp next to his bed helped him to forget the terrifying ordeal he had just suffered in the recesses of his mind. As he wiped the sweat from his face with the tail of his t-shirt, his eyes fell on the information on the supernatural healing power of acupuncture he had so reluctantly taken from Olivia. He began to ponder if the attacker in his suffocating nightmare was sent as a warning of an untimely death by stubbornness against what might be his answer--acupuncture.
He cautiously reached for the information his sister had obtained and began to read. Herbal medicine had served him well, but would he ever truly be out of danger without the help of something like acupuncture?
Maybe there is something to this. He thought.
Upon reading of the blessings placed on the needles used by practitioners of authentic acupuncture, belief in supernatural healing power entered his psyche. He knew it would be foolish to continue resisting what seemed like his only hope.

"Your change is $1.47," the cashier said as he placed the money in Todd's hands.
"Thanks," he responded, sighing and gently shaking his head in disgust as he shoved the money into his pocket, grabbed his merchandise, and abruptly walked away from the area in which the cashier had violently coughed without covering.
"Old, inconsiderate fart," he thought, his brow wrinkled with frowns as he headed for the exit. But, his anger was short lived as he relished in the thought that for the past three years he had enjoyed the simple pleasure of adequate respiration without a struggle--thanks to the supernatural healing power of acupuncture.

The doctors could find no cause for the pain that persisted to different degrees in Todd's swollen and discolored belly.
'What is wrong with me?' He pondered, lying back in his recliner, eyes closed in distress. He would consult with Olivia tomorrow. Perhaps his sister could again provide him with an answer to a problem that had suddenly appeared.

"Oh my God!" Todd whimpered as the intruder who had attempted to strangle him again stood in his presence. Lying there, his limbs frozen by dreamland power, he contemplated the stranger, focusing on the hands that had so viciously choked him. He could see in large, bold print, the words "Payment Due" on a folded piece of paper held in the intruder's right hand. Six long needles were held in the left.
