Should Free Christian Internet Dating Sites Be Avoided?
Are Free Christian Internet Dating Sites Inferior to Fee-Based Sites?
"You get what you pay for" is often stated by people who discourage the use of free Christian Internet dating sites. Why? Because it is assumed that anyone who is not willing to pay a fee to a service to help them to find a Christian husband or to find a Christian wife must not be serious about finding a spouse. Therefore, they can't be considered good prospects for singles who are looking for a serious relationship leading to marriage.
Such an assumption cannot be fairly made when the facts about free Christian Internet dating sites are considered. It is a well known fact that the worldwide problem of singleness in the body of true, born-again believers in Jesus has given rise to numerous so-called Christian dating sites charging as high as $50.00 per month to use their services. Have these fee-based sites proven to be superior to free Christian Internet dating sites? This is not the case at all.
It is a simple matter of visiting forums and reading public comments and reviews of sites to learn of the great disappointment with which the majority of people have been left with fee-based sites. Understandably, many of these people will never again pay out their hard-earned money to get nothing but frustration, and perhaps extra charges on their credit card, in return. Why then would they not consider trying some of the free Christian Internet dating sites? The fact that they will no longer give their money away for nothing does not make them "low quality" people or "cheap."
Free Christian Internet Dating Sites: The Advantages
The highlight of most online dating sites is, "Sign up for free!" Why would they not allow everyone to sign up for free? The higher the number of "members" they can boast, the better their chances of selling subscriptions. Meanwhile, until you pay, you are usually blocked from sending and/or receiving messages. Your search options might be limited. You probably are blocked from seeing who has viewed your profile and/or blocked from fully viewing another member's profile until you have paid subscription fees.
While there is nothing wrong with charging for a service, to count as "members" people who are blocked from communicating with you is deceptive. At least it cannot be said that free Christian Internet dating sites prey on the bad situation true, born-again, single believers face in looking for a spouse.
Fake Profiles and Scammers on Free Christian Internet Dating Sites?
One of the reasons for discouraging the use of free Christian Internet dating sites is the belief that they are more prone to attract scammers and to display fake profiles. What fee-based dating site, "Christian" or otherwise, is free of the presence of scammers and/or fake profiles? Remember, anyone can sign up for a free "membership" at almost any of the dating sites in existence. Remember also that many of these sites allow subscribers (those who have purchased a plan) to initiate contact and/or respond to messages sent from those who have not subscribed. This means that a scammer can use fee-based and free Christian dating sites to his or her advantage.
True, born-again, single believers in Jesus are so rare in the world that they would do well to remember that making assumptions can be costly. Their future Christian wife or husband just might be on one of the free dating sites. The best things in life are still free.
