Hollywood, Bin Laden, and the Almighty Dollar

Congressman Peter King has expressed some concern over the plan of Hollywood to make a movie about the killing of Bin Laden, scheduled for release in October 2012. Is Hollywood getting into politics? Have the makers of the movie been made privy to some of the secrets of the United States government? White House Press Secretary Jay Carney labeled any such suspicions as "ridiculous." Others suspect that there is a connection between Hollywood, Bin Laden and the upcoming United States presidential election. The connection, some say, is a plot to boost support for Obama.
If watching a movie about the killing of Bin Laden causes voters in the U.S.A. to forget the rest of what the Obama administration has or has not done, American intelligence is in trouble.
Patriotism by Hollywood
Should citizens of the U.S.A. be encouraged by the movie to be more patriotic? Video clips of people celebrating the killing of Bin Laden in the streets of North American cities show them repeatedly shouting, "U.S.A.!" A television commercial showed a street in what appeared to be an average, middle class neighborhood in the nation. It then made a statement to the effect that the 911 tragedy had forever changed the country, but not in the way the enemy wanted. Immediately after the statement, the same neighborhood scene was shown. However, this time it depicted a United States flag flying in front of the homes.
Such a message that is meant to frustrate the foes of the nation only confirms that something is wrong with the spirit of patriotism if it has to be awakened by tragedy. True patriotism is practiced during peace and during war; and when all is calm or when tragedy strikes.
In times past, many citizens of the U.S.A. cherished the precious freedom we have to worship the one and only true God. Nowadays a good number of people have embraced anti-Christian religions and doctrines to which they have been introduced through immigration to the U.S.A. as well as international travel. Old Hollywood movies depicted characters freely mentioning God, saying the blessing over the meal, and attending church, which remind of the respect for Biblical law that was held in the land. True patriotism was much more alive and well during those times.
The Almighty American Dollar
One thing is for sure when speaking of the Hollywood Bin Laden connection: its glue is the almighty dollar. Friends and enemies of the U.S.A. will go to see the killing of Bin Laden by Hollywood because it will be the "in" thing to do--and the almighty dollar will be made. Those who know why Bin Laden was killed and those who don't, will see the movie because it will be the "hip" thing to do--and the almighty dollar will be made.
Fortunately, not everyone in the world is ruled by vanity or by love of the almighty dollar. Many who fully agree with the killing of Bin Laden to help fight terrorism, realize that a Hollywood movie of the incident might have to do with upcoming elections. Money, however, is what it's all about--as usual.
