Parable of Wheat and Tares Part - I

The parable of wheat and tares figures among the many parables of Jesus that few people fully understand Lack of understanding prevents extraction of every spiritual truth available in the teaching. One question that plagues Christians and non-Christians alike is the fact that evil people who spend a good part of their lives causing God's children to suffer are allowed to continue living; and many of them thrive. Although even the most intense study of God's word will not give the believer all of the answers he would like on this question, some very important answers are given in the parable of wheat and tares.
Two Kinds of Sowed Seed
Jesus taught, "...The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field. But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy that done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn" (KJV, Matthew 13:24-30).
Jesus Explains the Parable of Wheat and Tares
It sounds strange that this or any other parable for which Christ gives an explanation would figure among the parables of Jesus not fully understood by students of the Bible. However, this is the case because it's necessary to understand the Bible as a whole in order to understand some specific teachings it offers.
Jesus explained to his disciples, "...He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one. The enemy that sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear" (Matthew 13:37-43).
Why Wait Till the End of the World?
Again, Jesus explains the parable of wheat and tares; therefore, we have the basic understanding of the truths being taught:
1. Those who work righteousness are the children of God and were planted by the Son of man (Jesus).
2. Those who work iniquity (evil) are the children of the wicked one (the devil) and were planted by the enemy.
3. Both sets of children have to mature.
4. The children of God are
wheat and the children of the wicked one are tares.
5. The
children of God will shine like the sun in the day at the
end of the present world while the children of the enemy will be gathered up to be burned by the angels of God.
Despite the many questions that the Lord answered about sowed seed when he explained the parable of wheat and tares, at least two more questions linger: 1. Why can't the angels of God tell the difference between wheat and tares? 2. Why doesn't God, who does distinguish wheat from tares, simply destroy the tares so they don't harm the wheat? This would actually help to protect his own children from
suffering at the hands of the children of the enemy. These questions are scripturally answered in
