Questions About the Afterlife
The afterlife is a topic on which many people have questions to which they seek answers. Is there proof of reincarnation? What happens after the last breath has been taken? Can anything definitive be learned from near death experiences? What are the best sources for answers to questions about life after death? What many people don't realize is that they can erase much of their confusion regarding the afterlife by first learning to discern truth from falsehood and continuing from there.
Sources of Information on the Afterlife
The Christian Bible is just one of many sources of information on the afterlife; but, why rely on it over another source such as the Egyptian book of the dead, for example? There are compelling reasons to believe God' word is truth. Any sensible person who comes into the knowledge of the amazingly accurate historical, scientific, prophetic, and medical knowledge presented in the Christian Bible has to acknowledge the divine inspiration of the scriptures. This is why the highly educated apostle Paul declared in II Timothy 3:16 that, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
Belief in "Proof" of Reincarnation Is Deception
The New Testament scripture of Hebrews 9:27 reads, "And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." There is is only one life to live here on the present Earth after which comes the judgment. "Proof" of reincarnation is, therefore, deception at its best and deception is all that defies and contradicts God's word, but there are those who will still choose to believe what has opposed scripture. This is why scripture reminds, "For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid. Yea, let God be true, but every man a liar...(Romans 3:3-4).
Nothing Will Be Carried Into an Afterlife.
The people of ancient Egypt are well known internationally for the lavish manner in which they built, adorned, and generously supplied the tombs of their pharaohs. They even perfected the art of mummification in the belief that their "god-kings" would need their body, food, and personal belongings in the afterlife. The truth is that no matter how much faith they had in this falsehood, the mummies of their deceased pharaohs never rose to travel in a chariot to a life after death.
The personal belongings, food, and guardian statues remained untouched in their original places in the burial chambers, unless they were removed by ancient or modern grave robbers or modern archaeologists. The ancient biblical writing of the Old Testament book of Job, however, reveals that God had already taught his people important truths about life after death, that nothing can be carried from this life to a life after death. His servant Job said, "...Naked came I out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return thither..." (Job 1:21). Job was a very rich man, rich enough to have servants, but he knew he would not take even a shred of clothing with him into an afterlife.
Does the Christian Bible Discourage Belief in an Afterlife?
The Christian Bible does not discourage belief in life after death, but rather, it guides the reader into truths concerning the "great beyond," judgment, resurrection, and something of which even few Christians have heard--the second death which is a most fearful thing. (The second death has nothing at all to do with near death experiences.) The Bible also gives them to know what teachings are false.
The afterlife certainly isn't a pleasant subject for most people; however, any understanding that can be gained helps to clear up confusion which only makes the topic more unpleasant. It should be remembered that half of the "battle" is not learning what will be in the afterlife, but what will NOT be.
