Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world
Bible Fun Facts to Test Your Knowledge of God's Word
Amazing Bible Facts Even Few Christians Know
The Bible was the first book in the world ever printed and it has been translated into more languages and dialects than any other work ever produced. When speaking of the success of the famous mystery writer, Agatha Christie, the sales of her books are compared to the those of the Bible to emphasize just how successful she was internationally. There are approximately 2,000 prophecies in the Bible and not all of them foretell the birth of the Savior, Christ. A study of the prophecies reveals what could be considered Bible fun facts for those who seek to be scholars or who would simply like to have an idea of why so many people in the world cherish what many in the West have pushed aside. It's important to note that Bible prophecy is extremely specific so that, unlike many other "prophecies," they cannot be denied once they have come to pass--not intelligently denied that is. An in-depth look at the Mothman "prophecies" are beyond this article, but is a subject we plan to cover here later. "Predictions" made by some of the most famous psychics are written in such a way that they can be forced to "fit" almost any event to which someone wants to attach them because they lack specificity on purpose. This is not the case with Bible prophecy.
The ancient empire of Babylon was considered one of the most glorious in history; the inhabitants were cultured, educated, and politically super powerful. However, God said that it would fall and never be rebuilt again. Scripture even describes what the land would be like after the fulfillment of the prophecy which is verified by today's modern archaeologists. Isaiah 13:19-21 foretold, "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees excellency shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation, neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there, neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. But, wild beasts of the desert shall lie there and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures, and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there."
Other scriptures such as Isaiah 14:23, Jeremiah 50:13, 39, 51:26, 43, 58, and 62 give even more interesting Bible facts about the fall of Babylon such as the passage in Isaiah 14:23 which speaks of pools of water covering the land. The present day site of ancient Babylon fits the biblical description of the broken empire that has never been revived although Alexander the Great made such an attempt, but died of a sudden and incurable disease. The present-day site of ancient Babylon is desolate, inhabited by wild beasts, avoided by the Bedouins (Called Arabians in the scriptures) who fear the "stories" told about the place, and is periodically covered by swamps and marshes as the Euphrates river swells and covers it--just like scripture foretold.
The Amazing Scientific Teachings Of God's Word
Isaiah 40:22 says, "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth..." The Hebrew word used for circle is "chwug" meaning spherical or arched in shape and ruling out the possibility that the prophet thought that Earth was a flat circle. Remember, there were no telescopes in existence during the Old Testament times. Job 26:7 reads, "He stretcheth out the north over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing." It isn't difficult to understand someone who lived in Old Testament times describing gravity as "nothing." These ancient people would have pictured a spherical planet being held in orbit by what looked like nothing--the invisible force of gravity. How would they have known what it took scientists thousands of years to "discover?"
This is an extremely short list of the literally thousands of Bible fun facts that, when taught, can actually help a person grow closer to grasping the majesty and authority of the God of creation. Sadly, I've never heard them taught in any Sunday school or Bible class or Bible lesson, or from the pulpit. These interesting Bible facts have and continue to amaze Christians as well as people of other faiths.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
