Why Believe The Christian Bible? Simple Ways To Prove It Is The Word Of God

Prophetic Evidence That Is Unique To The Christian Bible

Below is a passage from the Christian tract, Impact:

"Did you know the fall of the Babylonian empire was prophesied about a hundred years before it took place? The prophecy even stated that it would become swamps. Between 701 and 681 BC, a man named Isaiah wrote, "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah" (Isaiah 13:19). "I will also make it...pools of water...saith the Lord of hosts "(Isaiah 14:23). History confirms the final destruction of Babylon around 539 BC. When archaeologists excavated Babylon in the 1800s, they found they were unable to excavate certain areas of the city, because they were flooded! They found swamps just as the prophet had said.

Unlike the "prophecies" of Nostradamus and other "prophets", biblical prophecies are clear and precise. True prophets of God prophesy so specifically that they give exact names and detailed descriptions instead of babblings that can forcibly be turned into the "prophecy" of any event. This is just one of numerous very clear and specific prophecies in the Christian Bible that have been fulfilled to the last detail. What's more is that we can verify the Bible's prophecies in these modern times.

But does not the Quran also contain prophecies?

It is argued that the Quran also contains prophecies. But what people often overlook is the fact that the Quran is like hot off the press compared to the age of the Bible. The 40 or so authors of the Bible wrote the scriptures over many years, so depending on which part you read, the Bible is between 500 and 1600 years older than the Quran. Big difference.

And what about the religious writings that were written before the scrolls of the Bible were written? The point is that those writings have no scientific teachings. Their confusing, muddled "prophecies" were never fulfilled. What's more is that many teach things that we know are nonsense, even dangerous. For example, their medicinal "remedies" that poison the body. Dirty and ridiculous remedies that don't cure anything. Where is the science in that? Where is the proof of divine inspiration? The Christian Bible is the only book in the world that has wisdom that its authors could not have had if it weren't for God's inspiration, period."

Scientific Evidence Unique To The Christian Bible

Passage from Impact (A Christian tract):

"We can burn something, but it still exists as ashes. We can boil water until it evaporates, but it is still there as vapor in the air. The scientific law of the conservation of matter, discovered in the 18th century, tells us that matter cannot be created or destroyed. But did you know that back in the third or fourth century BC, there was a man who knew, and wrote that scientific law more than two thousand years before it was discovered? How was that possible? Yes, and you can verify it. He wrote, "...whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him."(Ecclesiastes 3:14).

Remember that the Bible is so old that the Coran is a "recent release" compared to its age. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the precise and verifiable scientific knowledge that God's Word offers on biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, meteorology, and much more."

People say, "We can trust science, not the error-filled Bible."

Answer: Fewer and fewer people trust science, and for good reason. Let's briefly consider the dating methods that scientists use as carbon dating. In 1938, a Crosopterygian fish was caught from the Indian Ocean. The point is that scientists--guided by their dating methods--had already said the fish became extinct more than 80 million years ago. No wonder evolutionists have changed the age of the earth several times. So much for our absolute trust in science.

People say, "The authors of the Bible are not the only ones who had scientific knowledge. The authors of the writings of other religions...of paganism also knew science."

Answer: Really? If so, where is the written record to prove it? People can say anything, but God's people put their knowledge in writing so we can read it. When we consider ancient texts from Egypt, India, and other cultures steeped in paganism, it is highly unlikely that they knew science. We find absurd remedies and deadly concoctions to cure diseases. The tails of rats mixed with ashes soaked in rainwater...etc. etc. etc. Yes, archaeologists have found those written records...records of a lot of nonsense. If they had scientific and medical knowledge, why didn't they ever put it in writing? In light of the nonsense they did put in writing, why should we believe they understood anything scientific...especially since there is no record of it?

Why Would We NOT Think The Bible Is Spiritually Perfect?

We have undeniable proof that the Word of God is infallible in its teachings of the hard and soft sciences, history and prophecy, etc. So when it comes to the spiritual, why shouldn't we expect the same amazing infallibility in its teachings? You might say, "There is no way to be sure of the existence of Christ, much less of His resurrection." But, have you ever asked yourself these questions?

1. Archaeologists applied the same rigorous criteria to the Holy Bible that they apply to any historical document to determine its trustworthiness. It should be pointed out that the Christian (not the Catholic) Bible passes the test of authenticity with flying colors. It's interesting that we trust the scrolls about Napoleon, Alexander the Great, King Tut, and many other people, but we don't want to trust what the Christian Bible says about the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Why is that?

2. What does Jesus have that made Him the most controversial man to ever walk the face of the earth?

3. How is it that more copies of the Holy Bible have been printed than any other book in the world? Perhaps it is because the entire world has tried to suppress the Bible more than any other book that has ever existed. Why are the messages in that book so powerful?

4. Why have more people been martyred for their faith in Christ than in anyone else who has ever lived?

Again, the Scriptures of the Christian Bible are perfect in their scientific and historical teachings. The Bible is perfect in prophecy. Therefore, it is logical to believe that it is perfect in its spiritual teachings, which revolve around the controversial Jesus. And the first truth to know about the Jesus of the Christian Bible is that He is the Son of God who came to earth in the flesh, which speaks of his divinity...God in the flesh of Christ. This truth is so important to God that if we deny it, we are antichrists in His eyes. "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist..." (1 John 4:3).

If Jesus were a mere man, there would be no need to confess that He came in the flesh. Every mortal comes in the flesh. This is what tells us He was not a mere mortal.

And Jesus said, "I am the way and the TRUTH, and the life..." (St. John 14:6).

Yes, there is only one road to salvation...Jesus of Nazareth. If you did not know these truths before, now you know them. And God knows you know them. You are free to accept or reject them. You have therefore been forever changed. The Word of God opens our eyes, which is why Jesus says, "If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin" (St. John 15:22).

You have just read biblical warnings that we'd all do well to take very seriously.

Neither Allah, nor Muhammad, nor Brahma, nor Shiva, nor Vishnu, nor any other pagan god died on the cross for us. Jesus is the one who gave His life for us by dying on the cross, so that we could be saved. Saved from what? From the coming wrath of the Lamb of God who wants His enemies to repent and turn to Him (Ezekiel 33:11).
