Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
This article deals with the direct question of whether our enemy, Satan, can send specifically a Christian dreams. We already know he can talk to our mind. But can he actually send us dreams? Well, the Christian Bible answers that question with a definite "yes"...unfortunately. But, it's good for us to know the truth about our enemy's tactics. (2 Corinthians 2:11)
Job was a righteous man. The Bible says he was perfect (Job 1:1). There's no doubt he had a true relationship with the Lord, just like the true Christian. Nevertheless, the enemy sent him dreams.
We read that Job said, "When I say, My bed shall comfort me. My couch shall ease my complaint. Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions" (Job 7:13-14).
Job was in agony of soul, so he hoped to find relief and some solace whenever he fell asleep. But the devil terrorized him in dreams. Notice that Job says, "thou scarest me with dreams" and "terrifiest me through visions". Unfortunately, he thought God was the One who was tormenting him, and the One who had struck him physically.
Let us not forget that though not all children of God have to go through the fiery trial Job endured, every true follower of Christ must be tested. God strengthens us, so we can stand. However, the enemy, Satan, always tries to undo what God has done. He seeks to weaken us by any means possible...including through our dreams. Hold fast to whatever encouragement you have received from God, because only His Word is our truth. God does not contradict Himself. He does not play with us. And He certainly does not torment us. He didn't even torment the disobedient Saul when He rejected this man as king. The Bible says the Lord sent an evil spirit to torment Saul (1 Samuel 16:14). If God didn't even torment Saul, a disobedient man, it's not logical to think He'd torment one of His obedient servants. God grants peace. He Himself torments no one. The devil might have sent you a dream to make you doubt what God has already said. Refuse all that contradicts what God says.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
