Luck, Chance, or God's Intervention?
The conversation in the video below is about my step-father, who had raised me as his own daughter. At the time of the video interview, my step-dad was in hospice.
My biological father had passed away several years earlier. Before he died I was called to his bedside at the hospital where I heard the neuro surgeon say, "This man needs to be in surgery in the next fifteen minutes or he's not going to make it!"
I prayed like I needed a miracle, because watching the blood continuously pump from the hole in my father's head until his gown was soaked, I knew he couldn't last much longer. I also knew that no matter how desperate the situation, God has the power of life and death. My biological father survived thanks to my prayer being heard, God's grace and mercy, and the knowledge and skill of the surgeon and his team.
Hopefully, we all get to a point where we look back on our lives and see more clearly what we didn't see back then. However, it seemed--at least to me--that my biological father never made the connection of his surviving what would have been a fatality for him the day he was admitted to the hospital had it not been for God's intervention.

Finally, I shared the above story with a group of college kids in another country. One of them invited an alcoholic to come to their Bible study to hear and discuss the story. My Father Was A Drunk. To their surprise, the man gave his life to Christ.
