Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The most successful and enduring movies ever made are not the ones filled with special effects and chock-full of adventure. They are movies that deal with the issues of real life. Why? Because most everyone can relate to them on some level, because they deal with decision-making, regret, tragedy, triumph, lost opportunities, revenge, love, hate, evil, envy and so much more. What's missing? Something that the true follower of Christ desires: Biblical answers to life's problems. Christian answers to life's problems. That is the aim of the Christian skits at Bible Theater, which we present to Christians and non-Christians alike. We will be launching in October of 2020.
The concept is simple, and all-inclusive. The audience will watch a skit, which is a snippet from real-life events. Of course we change the names of the actual people and places to hide their identity. The skits cover a very wide range of events, including life-threatening situations. We decided to launch Bible Theater after sharing these stories with co-workers, friends, family and strangers whose comments include, "I don't know what I would have done!" "How did you survive that?" "God spared your life. No doubt!" "My heart was pounding while listening!" The people who actually lived through the experience--and who are still alive--now look back, and know how they survived. The grace of God. Some didn't even have a relationship with Him at the time. Or they had made a wrong decision that landed them in "hot water", but the Lord spared their life. And these stories are a testimony of the grace and authority of God when it looks like everything is out of control. Or when it looks like the enemy has all the control.
But now we know that tragedy happens 'round the clock, 365 days of the year. Many go on prematurely to meet their Maker. They're not spared. What does the Bible say about that? These are the hard questions and problems to which we need Christian answers...biblical answers, which are never dealt with by the prissy Sunday School and Bible study booklets used in the average church. Bible Theater might be for you whether you're a Christian seeking biblical answers to life's problems to be a more effective witness for Christ, or whether you're estranged from God, because He hasn't been the God you thought He should be. If you truly want to understand God's Word for biblical answers to life's problems and questions, you will not totally cease to seek those answers.
We invite you to attend and watch the skits we will putting on at the Bible Theater. After the skit, there is a discussion during which we ask questions, and the audience asks questions. But we don't leave those questions up in the air. So, bring your Bible (preferably a King James Bible), a notebook and a pen, and a friend; and come learn God's amazing Word, probably like you've never learned it before.
For those of you with "actor's blood", you might want to get on stage and play a role. You don't even need to learn lines. Simply respond to the characters and the situation as you believe you would do in real life. After all, somebody truly lived what you're acting. And they did have to respond. Mark your calender, and set a reminder on your mobile devices to attend Bible Theater on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. at 101 Albany St in Waterloo, IA, 50703 (Hopewell Church). Please check here at HeavenlyManna.net for cancellations and other updates. If you have any question, please get in touch with us via our contact form below. Be sure to give us a valid e-mail address, and to make sure that our response does not go to your junk or spam folder. We will only try to reach you once. We look forward to seeing you at The Bible Theater! Wearing a face mask covering both nose and mouth is required. And social distancing will be practiced for all in-person meetings. We will also be offering meetings by Zoom during times of inclement weather.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
