Gay Christians, Leviticus 20:13 Does Indeed Say Homosexuality Is an Abomination
The "Real" Hebrew Translation of Leviticus 20:13 According to Gay Christians
Let's jump right into what the biblical Scripture of Leviticus 20:13 says. We read, "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them."
Now let's see how some gay Christians are arguing against Leviticus 20:13 as biblical proof that homosexuality is a sin...an abomination before God. They argue that "the real Hebrew translation is 'a man shall not lay with another man in the bed of a woman,' instead of 'two men shall not lay with each other,' as so many believe. Two men in a bed of a woman was rape, and so a woman could not have two men in her bed. Why else is a woman's bed mentioned in Hebrew! Because it's about a woman as the central focus, and not about the two men! Get over it, and read the articles here (in reference to Facebook articles)! It's not a sin in marriage and true love."
Our response: The Bible says rape can occur with only ONE man in or outside the bed of a woman (Deuteronomy 22:25, 2 Samuel 13:22). Neither a woman, nor a bed, nor rape is the focus of the Leviticus 20:13 passage. What is more is that the individual who put forth the above argument has three people involved: two men and a woman. Scripture only has TWO people involved: two men having sex. To "lie with" is to have sex with, plain and simple. We read, "If a man lies with mankind (another male) as he lieth with a woman, BOTH of them have committed an abomination." Where's the third party they claim is involved? "Both" means only two, not three. "They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13). Obviously this has nothing to do with raping a woman, which is why BOTH are guilty. When a woman is truly raped, the Bible lets us know that only the man is guilty. But we've just learned that Scripture says BOTH parties are guilty here. Why? Because BOTH are men having sex. And that is an abomination."
A Message to LGBTQ Communities:
Rather than trying to twist the Word of God to mean what you want it to say, you would do well to accept His truth BEFORE you close your eyes in death, after which comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). The Bible tells us that God does not want ANYONE to be lost (2 Peter 3:9). That includes everyone. And remember, there's no such thing as being "born" gay. We are all born with a sinful nature, and must battle against sin. Heterosexuals cannot expect to escape judgment by telling God, "I was born a criminal." Or, "I was born with a natural tendency to be an adulterer." We must all submit to the Lord, so He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness, be it homosexuality or any other sin.
