Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus, in His own words in the Holy Bible, exposes the lies surrounding the Catholic sacrament of the eucharist. Let us hear what the Lord Himself has to say regarding the body and blood of Jesus in holy communion. The lie is that once the priest "blesses" the wafer and wine, they literally become the flesh and blood of Christ, which is then consumed. It is impossible for this to be true. Let's find out why by taking a look at a few of the scriptures in the sixth chapter of the New Testament book of St. John.
We read, "Then Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you'" (St. John 6:53).
Jesus also said, "For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed" (St. John 6:55).
The above scriptures figure among those used to provide "biblical" support for teaching that the Catholic sacrament of the eucharist is the consumption of the real flesh and blood of the Son of God. First, if this were the case, why did Jesus clearly tell us He was not speaking of literally eating His flesh and drinking His blood? In the very same sixth chapter of St. John, Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are SPIRIT, and they are life" (verse 63 of St. John). He clearly says, "The flesh profits NOTHING." Even if a man had succeeded in eating the actual flesh of Christ, it would have profited him nothing. Jesus plainly said His words are "spirit." Do we not know the difference between what is spirit and what is flesh? Also, do we forget that the Lord forbids the literal drinking of blood in both the Old and New Testaments? See Genesis 9:4 and Acts 15:29. We couldn't literally drink the blood of Jesus the man and at the same time obey God's commandment to abstain from drinking blood. Remember, Jesus is the Lord. And the Lord has not contradicted His own Word.
Based on true events, The Third Man by Angela Sheffield, brings the Bible up close and personal as the characters face real issues of life: Betrayal, deceit, romance, bitterness, anger against God, hopelessness, will power, perplexity, triumph, unforgiveness, mental illness, and the "Alcohol made me do it" excuse.
