Should You Hire a Ghost Writer?
Before deciding whether you might want to hire a ghost writer, make sure you know what ghost writers do. While not all of them offer the very same services, the heart of their profession is to professionally write your story or work of non-fiction for you. This does not mean that their name receives the credit. On the contrary, your name appears as the author of the finished work.
While a ghost writer can be hired to write articles and other types of works, he or she is generally hired to write a book or a short story. Many ghost writers choose to specialize. For example, some might work exclusively with clients who need to publish their biography while others might focus only on the creation of works of fiction within a specific genre such as romance or science fiction.
Much goes into the creation of a well written, professional book. Therefore, it is highly advisable to learn up front from the ghost writer whether he or she will also handle the editing of the book, promotional write-up, and cover design. If you are self publishing your work, it is unlikely that the ghost writer will handle marketing and the promotion of the book itself.
