Overcome Negative Thoughts and Words Today!
I listened to the Christian speaker at the church gathering in the park talk about the damage that negative thoughts can do, because they lead to negative words. However, I just wasn't very impressed. I know I had tried, what I thought was my best, for many years to rid myself of negative thoughts and words. But, I had failed at all of my attempts, like so many others. It wasn't until I arrived home that day and began talking with someone else about what the speaker taught in the park meeting that I began to realize the value of his advice for helping ourselves to overcome negative thinking.
Fasting From Negative Thoughts and Words
The speaker made a suggestion that the majority of people can easily put into practice immediately. He explained how some things seem too big to try to overcome all at once, but that taking things in small chunks can make all the difference in the world. "Fasting from negative thoughts is a start", said the speaker to the crowd. He went on to explain how he had actually put his advice into practice with a youngster, asking her to attempt to go an entire twenty-four hours without thinking or saying anything negative. The child agreed, but soon found just how many times that day she had to stop herself from entertaining negative thoughts and how many times she had to cover her mouth to stop the negative words that she was in the habit of speaking.
I decided to attempt, along with someone else, fasting for twenty-four hours from negative thinking. It turned out that the two of us also found how many times during the day we had to stop the thoughts or the words that came to our minds, and out of our mouths. It's funny, but if you even make up your mind to go on the fast, you will catch yourself when you go to think or say something negative. I believe it is the Lord who is helping us to do exactly what he wants us to do.
The best part of the fasting experience was that it gave us a desire to attempt to go another twenty-four hours without thinking or saying anything negative, which we did. At the end of the second day, we wanted to go a third, and then a fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, etc. Before we knew it, we had been on a two week fast from negative thoughts and words. And, now it is no longer a fast. It is a new way of life onto which we want to hold! We believe you can experience the same, if you are willing to take the challenge and accept God's help.
The word of God lets us know that our thoughts are very powerful, so much so that we can literally become what we think! The Bible says, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7). And, words are even more powerful than thoughts. We read, "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Matthew 12:36-37). Just think of the damage that can be done by continuing to allow negative thoughts to cause us to speak negative words.
No, we do NOT believe in the law of attraction according to the anti-Christian beliefs and teachings of New Age doctrine. New Age doctrine teaches belief in negative energy in order to deceive people into believing that there is no Devil, and that demonic beings do not exist. To say such a thing is to call Jesus a liar, because he plainly teaches us that Satan, and the satanic kingdom is real. And, the enemy (Satan), greatly desires for us to go through life thinking negative thoughts and speaking negative words to prevent the power of God from working in our minds.
