Buddhist Meditation to Attain Nirvana
Understanding Buddhist meditation requires understanding the purpose of the meditation, which is to help you attain nirvana. What is nirvana? A simplified definition of nirvana is liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. Basically, living in this world, according to Buddhists, is to suffer--a truth that all the world knows, whether you are Buddhist or not.
Buddhist meditation to attain nirvana is based on the universal truths of the religion. One of those truths says, "The transitory character of all things goes hand in hand with suffering. Since nothing stays the same, life does not satisfy, because we desire and we attach ourselves to things that cannot last. Although we might attain happiness, happiness doesn't last either, because knowing that happiness will end is, in itself, a source of suffering. And one of the noble truths says, 'The causes of suffering are desires and attachments (Usborne, Religiones del Mundo (Religions of the World), Kirsteen Rogers y Clare Hickman, p. 38)'"
Now we understand why some practice Buddhist meditation to attain nirvana. They want to escape from the suffering of this life by not having to live again, that is, by not having to go through reincarnation.
The Affirmations in the Universal and Noble Truths Are NOT True
Remember that Buddhist meditation is practiced to help a person to attain nirvana, which is freedom from the cycle of rebirths and, consequently, freedom from suffering. Those who practice this style of meditation believe in the universal and noble truths. But, if those truths are not true, where does that leave us as far as Buddhist meditation is concerned? If we cannot trust in the universal and noble truths, we can't be sure that reincarnation is real. If reincarnation is a falsehood, why do we need to practice Buddhist meditation to attain nirvana?
The Christian Bible Opens Our Eyes to the Cause of Suffering
Satan, also known as the Devil, the dragon, the enemy, and the serpent, in addition to other names and titles in the scriptures, deceived man in the garden of Eden. Through diabolical deception, man disobeyed God. And, as a consequence, sin, which always brings with it suffering, entered the world. So, the cause of suffering is NOT having desires or attachments as one of the noble truths of Buddhism affirms. The real cause of suffering is sin. Buddhist meditation is based on "truths" that are not true, according to the word of God, which is perfect in its teachings on science and history, and perfect in fulfilled prophecies.
The third chapter of Genesis relates the sad story of the fall of man from the grace of God and the suffering that entered the world as a consequence. Also we read in Romans, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men..." (Romans 5:12). And, we read, "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life" (Romans 5:18).
The man of whom the scripture speaks is the Son of God, Christ Jesus, the Savior of every one who receives him as Lord and Savior. Practicing Buddhist meditation does not lead to liberation from the cycle of reincarnations. Reincarnation is a lie from the same serpent that deceived man through lies in the beginning. Obedience to Christ is spiritual freedom from sin unto salvation and eternal life in the hereafter in the glorious presence of God, the Creator of man and all that is in the earth and space.
The universal and noble "truths" often deceive practitioners of the martial arts, yoga, and they deceive through some of the courses taught on alternative eastern medicine.
