What Is the Nature of Man? Is He Basically Good or Bad?

According to Socorro Alcalá, the author of, Metaphysics, the true nature of man is good. The author writes:

"The soul of a newborn is like a blank page, there is no evil, prejudice, fear, hatred or ambitions; it is clean as it came forth from the hands of the Creator. If that child could be raised in a 'wild' environment, who grew up among wolves, panthers, bears, etc., he would never develop any personality problem whatsoever. He would conserve the purity of his first days, being incapable of conceiving ideas beyond those having to do with survival and fun. Even at 30 years old he would be as innocent as a little three year old child." (English translation of the original Spanish)

What the author says about the nature of man, that it is good, sounds logical, correct, and it makes sense. But, if we know the word of the Creator of man, we quickly see that the concepts of metaphysics do not teach us the truth. In fact, they teach the exact opposite of what the scriptures say on the true nature of man.

King David, a servant of God, declared, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me" (The Gideons Int'l Bible, Psalm 51:5). David was not born out of wedlock. He was not conceived in adultery or fornication. Why then did David say, "I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me"? David understood that the nature of man is sinful, it is evil in the eyes of God. It might not be in the eyes of man, but it is in God's eyes. This truth is repeated throughout the scriptures of both testaments of the Holy Bible.

Does this mean that babies are not innocent in the eyes of God? Of course not. To be born a sinner does not mean that babies sin, rather that they have the nature of man, in other words, a sinful nature which causes them to sin as they grow up. This is inevitable. Even the apostle Paul, a faithful servant of God, had to fight against the nature of man that he inherited from Adam and Eve.

Paul wrote, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man. But, I see another law in my members, waring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin" (Romans 7:18-25).

"The law of sin" refers to the nature of man, the sinful one that every person inherited from Adam and Eve because of their (Adam and Eve's) fall from grace in the garden of Eden. The anti-Christian spirits behind the teachings of metaphysics have the goal of causing man to believe that he was born perfect. As long as he believes this lie he will see no need for the Savior, Jesus, who forgives us our sins IF we confess that we are sinners who need salvation (1 John 1:9-10).

The nature of man is sinful according to the word of God, who is the Holy Spirit behind the sacred scriptures that are perfect in their prophecies and their scientific teachings.
